What's a Harris Teeter?

They are moving into Northern Virginia rapidly. We will be getting one in our development around the end of the year. I haven't shopped too much at the other one in town, it is out of the way for me. From what I understand though, it is better than a Giant, but not as good as Wegman's. I think they really missed the boat by coming in after Wegman's came in. Admittedly, I work right across the street from Wegman's, but I can' imagine shopping anywhere else. Wegman's Rocks!!

I use them all the time when in the Carolinas. I am not impressed, but they are better than the alternative(s).

Wegman's and Harris Teeter are not even CLOSE to being in the same league. Wegman's ROCKS.

I was just going to ask how it compares to Wegmans! I've been in one Wegmans, but we don't have one close. I'm tempted to make the hour drive sometime to our closest one, but haven't yet. I think that I've heard that we will have a Harris Teeter opening up in our area, but I don't remember how close. The name didn't mean anything to me, so I didn't pay attention to the details.

I shop at the Taj MaTeeter! Let me know what you name the "ginormous" Teeter opening up beside the Taj MaTeeter. Or will it be called Tag MaTeeter II. :rotfl:

The old Irving Park ladies are precious. Whenever it snows, the fur coats and stoles come out of the closets.

I like HT because they stock hard to find spices and ingredients. The clerks are well trained and they will take your groceries out to your car!

Hi, neighbor!!! I don't know what the new Teeter will be called!!!!

I love the cold weather days at the Teeter. Nothing amuses me more than to see someone wheeling a grocery cart down the aisles dragging that big old fur coat!!! There's one in particular - I see her every year at several stores. The minute the temperature drops a degree, she's got that coat out. (For those of you who don't know the area, we have very mild winters. Although it can certainy get cold enough to wear a fur coat, it wouldn't be an everyday thing by any stretch. And this past winter, you'd have had a heatstroke, because it was so mild.)

My mom got a fur jacket for Christmas once, and I always used to tease her about wearing it to the Teeter (which she wouldn't have been caught dead doing - much too ostentatious for her!)

We had them here for several years but they all closed.
I'm a Publix gal, but HT was a nice change once in a while. My daughter just loved the BBQ chicken lunch meat.
