Whats a goodf Price for a flight from DC to Orlando

First time I am paying for a flight from DC (Dulles or National) to Orlando, and am not sure what a good price is. Only non-stop flights I see are with Ted or AirTran (AirTran is cheaper, but I think i would go with Ted cause of the DME). Ted is about $215 and AirTran is abot $198. I am flying a Friday Morning in Aug and returning the following Friday in the evening. Any advice on what a good rate is R/T to Orlando from DC...

Southwest is now flying out of Dulles NS to Orlando. They always have great prices. Sign up for the Ding on their website and they have even better prices. We usually fly out of BWI and have gotten airfare through SW for $49 oneway. With a Ding fare they go even lower sometimes. Hope this helps.

Best price will most likely be on SWA ~ They now have 2 non-stops a day to Orlando from Dulles and 2 N/Ss on the return flight. If you watch and also check DINGs you can get a roundtrip for *around* $115 or so (sometimes even better if you get a great DING!)

USAir also has N/Ss out of DCA -comparable prices to what you found.

I am from the Dulles area and I have been flying to Orlando twice a year for the last 10 years.
The last few years we have taken Ted/United because it always has direct flights at times I like and is usually the cheepest. We have payed around $160 - $200 since 9/11, all direct flights.

This year I am going in March and I am flying SW from IAD to MCO and got the one way fare for $59 !!!! For the return I am using Ted because I like there return time better and I got the MCO to IAD for $79. Both are direct flights.

Sometimes BWI or DCA may be cheeper by $30 but it is not worth the hassel to sit in traffic to get to those airports for $30.

Currently, SW doesnt like fairs that far in advance, while Ted and AirTran do list there now... Do you think I should wait and hope for a better flight, or book the flight now if it has the hours I am looking for at $210 R/T (remember, its me and DW).

I would hold off, I think you can beat that price by $30 - $70 pp.
With the addition of SW at Dulles it is keeping Ted prices competitive.
On the other hand if you don't mind paying extra for a little piece of mind and your times are not very flexable, book it.

Last year my DH booked his flight at $250 on Ted to Orlando and 2 weeks after that it went down to under $200 and never went back to that high price of $250.

August is a long way off, I always book about 2-3 months in advance.
Wait and see what SW posts when they release those dates, if they have a sale Ted will usually match the price.

I fly SW from BWI to Orlando. I usually buy my tics as soon as the new schedule comes out. Guarantees my flight. Then I do the waiting Ding game. When a good Ding comes up, I quickly cancel my old and do my new Ding fare using the same reservation number. Then I usually have a credit towards my next flights.

Now, you're planning Aug which is a high volume time so there might not be as many good Dings. But regular fare has been about $79/one way. Good luck!

I'm tentatively planning a trip in late April/early May and SW is looking the best (from Dulles/IAD.) Their internet fares currently are about $180 w/taxes round trip where Ted and the others seem to be hover around $200 round trip. Haven't booked anything yet...kinda waiting on that SW Ding hopefully at around $50-$60 each way.
