What's a good (and under $50-ish) dollhouse for a 2.5 year old girl? I've been looking at the Fisher Price Little People houses, and then I'm thinking it might be too babyish for her, or she'll outgrow it too soon. She has the Loving Family dollhouse at my mom's house, so I'd rather not get a duplicate (and it HUGE!!). At my aunt's house there's a small plastic dollhouse with a house full of accessories from her other neice (who is now about 7) that my DD loves, but we can't identify who made it. I wish I knew what it was!

What dollhouse does your DD/DGD/DN have? How does she like it?

I decided to buy Fisher Price My First Dollhouse for my DD this Christmas (she will be 21 months when she receives it). It is $30 at the Wal-mart site (free shipping to your store). It got great reviews - better than the little people one. I figure this one will last her a few years at least.

I think you are right about the little people houses. My DD had already grown out of all of her little people stuff by the time she hit 2.5 or 3. She didn't want any of it anymore- so we packed it all up. The only exception was the little people castle. She still has that one out, but she tossed the little people and uses little Disney people from toy sets with it instead.

I'm going to look into the Melissa and Doug one, especially with the coupon. I'm just so afraid because she's too "big" for a lot of things and she's super interested in the more big girl toys, but I just don't want to jump the gun on some things.

I'm going to keep looking :) Thanks for the responses!! :) Keep 'em coming!

I got my dd Caring Corners from Toys r Us. She wanted the Camper and Toys r Us had a deal that if you bought the house you got the camper for free. It was $69.99 + the free camper (which is $29.99).

My DD just turned 5 and plays with the Little People Palace. I got it for her this summer, because I found it new for $13.50. She likes it a lot.

We also have a "vintage" doll house that I got for $1 at a flea market. She loves that one as well.

By 3 years old my daughter was playing with the Fisher Price Loving Family dollhouse and she still does and she is almost 6. She outgrew the My first dollhouse within a year

I agree dont waste your money on the my first dollhouse...get the next step up! The loving family one. My daughter outgrew hers within a year. Gave it to her at 1.5.
It only costs 30 dollars, but you also only get like 3 pieces of furniture with it. So you still have to spend more than 30 dollars for the extra packs of furniture.
The loving Family one will last you alot longer! A way better value!

My niece got the Fisher Price 'My First Dollhouse' at that age and she was fine with it.... until she saw my DD's 'Loving Family' dollhouse. My vote's for the Loving Family set, DD is now 7 and still plays with it regularly even though the disney princesses and fairies visit often. Plus the accessories are often BOGO at TRU so it's semi-affordable to buy newer sets when they're released.

I agree with this. DD2 has the loving family dollhouse, and all my girls play with it. DD4 got the first dollhouse when she was 2, although they play with it, it simply doesn't compare to how much this one is played with.

Thanks!! The Loving Family dollhouse is the one she has at my mom's, so maybe Santa will just deliver it here, lol. It's not like we're at my mom's much anyway. LOL.

I did find the one from my aunt's house online at Toys R Us though, Hmmm... lots of thinking to do!!

Thank you :)

Have you considered a Playmobil set? Some of the tinier parts you could keep until she gets bigger. My DS is 7 and still loves to play with his stuff...he has knights and pirate sets. They also have sets for smaller children.
