TZTOT line-up near front gates.

CM on walkie talkie says, "Tower One to Tower Base, I have a possible 10-96 in area three."

Anyone?

A 10-96 is someone who has a mental problem, not to be confused with a 10-95 who is a drunk person. My favorite is 10-54 which is livestock in road, however 10-54j is a carcass...

So what do the cast members do when they have a 10-96 or a 10-95?

I worked at Six Flags Over Texas for a couple of years...if you're ever there and hear "Code 2 for a 37A"...run!!! It means someone lost their lunch and the ride crew has to shut down the ride to clean it up. Ahh, working at a theme park...so much fun!

At Disney, they call that a "protein spill." :p

It's funny what different 10 codes mean in different areas. Here 10-96 does mean someone with mental problems, but a 10-95 is an arrest and a 10-56 is a person who is drunk. 10-100 means "I'm going to the bathroom"

I would say that anyone with a 357 Magnum who orders everyone off Space Mountain because he's having a bad day is a definite candidate.

It could be argued that anyone that is excited about going on TZTOT is a candidate for 10-96 identification. What sane person wants to fall 13 floors anyway....
:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Someone had already asked the question.. but I'm gonn ask again...

What does Disney to with a person with mental problem...

And even still.. what do they do with a drunk person... lol

Here's my nomination for someone that might be 10-96: He spends hours every week talking with his wife about their next trip to Disney World. Every day he visits the DIS board at least 3 times. He also has Disney music playing in his truck constantly because his 2 1/2 year old son loves it as much as he does. This person also spends hundreds if not thousands of dollars just to go to the only place on earth where magic comes by seeing a whole bunch of people dressed up in costumes. This person will spend 5 dollars on a bottle of water just because it has Mickey Mouse on it.

That person has definitely got to be a 10-96. Either that or just a plain ol' Disney Nut. Maybe that could be a new catagory of people types - Disneynuts! I like it!

Anybody know where I can get a Bottle of water with a mickey mouse on it?

hee hee hee
God bless!
Mark

Unless you miss heard the call or the CM didn't have a clue what call sign they were trying to get across...

10-96 means "switch to" at DisneyWorld. The parks have different radio frequencies. For example at MK there is a main frequency for operations that all managers and most CM's stay on. When you need a manager you would call them on the operations frequency and then depending on the situation (if it were to be something that would tie up the frequnecy for too long) you would say 10-96 to "one of the other frequnecies" so that you could talk without interferring with the main line.

At Disney anything with a 10 code does not pertain to guests, calls about situations with guests are signals... for example signal 70 is a lost child which is usually called out followed by the description. 10-9 is repeat, 10-26 is I acknowledge the call, 10-96 is switch to, 10-54 is negative...there are a lot of them.

Ok.. so my question still wasnt answered....

If there is a person with a mental problem (being a psych major I have no idea what a "mental problem" is.. but if they are referring to mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar, then I understand), what does Disney do about it. If anything.

Also.... When there's a drunk person.. what does Disney do about that?

Unless the people are being unruly and violent, I don't think they do anything. Otherwise Disney security will probably escort them somewhere inobtrusive to other guests to deal with any problems.

Wow. I posted the original message in March of 2003. I wonder what the record is for biggest gap between posts on a thread.
