I found Disney's version of Annie and I cannot figure out why Disney decided to remake Annie for The Wonderful World Of Disney that aired on ABC in the 2000's? From what I saw of this version it looked cute and Andrea McArdle was cast superb as Annie and what I found out is that this version of Annie seemed to be targeted at younger children because it has no swearing and looked very clean. My mother saw it and she thought it looked nice. Was this version of Annie meant to introduce new fans to the original?

Really, lol. It’s Obvious Why Disney did this.. PR … optics.
I really wanted to see it.. I missed it? Thought it was Dec

I've never seen the original stage version of the story, so my introduction to Annie was the 1982 film. I've gotta say I definitely preferred Burnett's Prohibition-era alcoholic version of Miss Hannigan over Bates' mean Hannigan. Although I'm wondering if the stage version was more in line with the version Disney used, focusing more on the Great Depression over the inclusion of Prohibition.
