What you CAN bring on the plane

Oh that will be so frustrating with two young children. I was so excited to back bags of toys, books and colouring stuff with them. I was more excited to have them occupied! My little guy will not sit and watch the tv screens.

I understand where u are coming from not looking forward to this. at least i can put a few things in my diaper bag....maybe one of your kids can require a bag....they can not tell u yr kid is to old to wear pull ups can they??

We're flying out of Detroit. Does anyone know if the same rules apply there too? How about the bathroom rule, is that still in place?

Good question on strollers. Anyone know?? (if we are allowed to gate check these babies? I have a double McClaren and would need to bring it.)

Seems this is only for cross border-if you are flying within Canada you can still have a carry on. So if you are driving to Detroit and flying to Orlando from there there is a chance you can take a carry on but I would check the US rules.

As for the bathroom thing- If they screen you with their nudo-scope and don't allow you any carry on items think you should be able to go to the bathroom when you want?

Where did they say you can't bring books?

Will you be able to have a roller bag and gate check it?

I fly in three weeks-help! Really stressed out now

^^^I don't see why they won't let you bring a gps. I am bringing one. I don't want to check it....as it is a sensitive insrument.

I checked on United Airlines website, which is who we are flying with from Van city, to Orlando. They say the same things as been stated here. One acception is the purse/bag size. 12x10x5.5 inches is their quoted size limit. So I guess if Air Canada says no bigger than a piece of paper; it can vary from airline to airline. So I would check with your airline before you go.

here's the link to United's reg's....

Oh and just because you can't bting all these extra goodies on, does not give you an excuse; when the flight attendant asks you to settle down your child.

I can tell you right now...a bored child is an unhappy child.....not an un-disciplined one. You might want to pack your earplugs:rolleyes1

I understand what you are saying, not like I can control these kids. But(now this makes me sound real old...hahaha) when I was a young flyer I put on quite a few found trips from Whse-Toronto. I was well behaved because if I wasn't my Mom would give me sh!t. I think because I was once a well behaved young flyer, so can these kids...

We fly out tomorrow and my dh just stopped in at the airport to check with WestJet's latest guidelines: (I was on hold for.ev.er when I called and the first three times I was disconnected because "the switchboards are full. Please call again". Click.)

-you can have a diaper bag with enough stuff to change a bum. No rattles. No mirrors or toys. Wow. I pity the foo who sits next to the family with a young baby. That's hardly even fair.

-she said that we could try bringing a Nintendo DS on, but if we get a "grumpy" attendant we'd have to go back and check it.

-iPods are ok.

-We can still gate check the double Maclaren.

-no books, toys, magazines.

-headphones are for sale, don't bring our own kids ones.

Holy smokes. Well, who cares, I am going to DISNEYLAND!!!!!! :D: D :D :D :D :D

Perhaps this is a silly question and sorry if I missed it somewhere, but what about when we fly back to Canada from the US? Are we allowed to bring carry on bags and some of the stuff we can't bring when we go down? Headphones, magazines, etc.

BLAH this is going to be a real long trip with a 7 and 4 yr old and a 10 week old.....

anyone know if baby blankets and such are allowed on? my 4 yr old will not do well with out his.

FYI.... westjet now has regulations for carry ons on the main website!

You must not be a parent. I had this attitude before I became a parent too, although I have only had 4 months practice so far as we just adopted. But I am pretty proud that I have already trained them to sit through an hour Church service, now I need to work on a 3 hour flight.:thumbsup2

heres my concern abotu the bathroom thing that still seems unclear.

i have ulcerative colitis- when i gotta go that means yesterday, not in 2 hrs when we land. there is nothing that i can take(ieover the counter stuff) thats going to stop that. i mean these are basic human rites the last time i checked. hubbys opinion is screw it and go in your seat. um yeah not gonna happen! lol

I thought they had eased up on the bathroom thing. Last I had read was that you could go as long as you were escorted to the bathroom. I'm sure the flight attendants are thrilled with that one!

it would be nice to be able to bring a DS to amuse my girls in the airport but since I have my netbook maybe they can watch a movie. On the plane I don't have a problem they either sleep or watch TV and on our last round trip there was one bathroom break for one DD so I should be ok. We will wear our bathing suits under our clothes so we can swim when we arrive. All that matters is that we get to WDW and driving is not an option

WestJet's latest guidelines:

-no books....magazines.

So the danger in bringing these items on board would be......a papercut? :lmao:

Even before all these silly regulations, we thought it was a pain to fly. Now its just plain ridiculous!
THIS is why we don't fly! :rolleyes1

according to a new post the canadian travel safty whomever they are posted books are now allowed. i dont see how they could prevent them- ar they going to shut down all the stores after the check point and then if you buy one confiscate it....wait they could i suppose.

I don't understand the difference between an ipod and a Nintendo DS - why can you bring one and not the other? Is it because you can "chat" on the DS?
