My first trip was in 2002. However, my dh had been there once in 1980s sometime when there was only MK & Epcot. I don't remember the exact year.

Spring break 1972 with my Mom and Grandma - I was 9. I still remember playing air hockey in the Contemporary and the feel of Mickey's hands in his gloves as he pulled on my braids.

We were about 7 when we first went so that would be back in 1981  . We went with our mom, Grandma, 2 cousins, Aunt and Uncle. I remember we stayed at the Marriot Inn on International Drive (I think). We both got ear infections from too much swimming in the pool, so we then had to wear swim caps. We rode our first "big" rollercoaster which was Space Mountain, and to this day it is still a favourite. We went on the Sky Trams (I can't remember the name of it now), It's a Small World, we went to Coco Beach, "driving" on the Speedway, and my cousin was yelling at my sister "We are gonna go off the road", she thought she was really driving. I can't remember meeting any characters but I know we did because we have pictures with Chip and Dale, Goofy, and some in their Space Outfits. The funny thing is we went when we were 13 as well, and we can only find pictures of us with Chip and Dale and Goofy! I also remember stepping off the plane (it was August) and the humidity just hitting us like a toone of bricks! It was one of those planes where we had to walk down the stairs onto the runway area. :sunny: :cool2:

We lived in Florida - only 1 hour from WDW - but my first trip was not until 1975 (my parents would never take us as the only thing they ever heard on the media about WDW was how crowded, chaotic, and expensive it was). I was a junior in high school and went one crowded Saturday in May with my new boyfriend...who I later married and am STILL married to!

Since then I have lost track of the number of trips, but lately we have been going 2 to 3 times per year.

December 1971 when I was 6. Didn't make it back again until 1995. Have been there 4 more times since.

My first trip that I remember was last April.I went once when I was little but don't remember it.

Dec 1980 in our pop up at Ft Wilderness. I turned 3 while we were there.

In January of 1979 I went with my husband. We stayed on International Drive at hotel that I can't remember the name of. We flew into Orlando and visited Magic Kingdom 2 days. We also saw Sea World, I think Circus World, Cape Can and Busch Gardens!
During the plane ride home I was looking over some brochures and noticed how small the MK area took up in the WDW map and told my husband that we should invest in Disney stock because it was going to be a lot bigger someday.
He says now that I was right!

Hey thanks for this thread, I have to change my User profile, I had forgotten I went the first time when I was about eleven. We had driven to see my GM in WPB and on our way home my parents said we could go for a few hours. I remember getting a huge purple tissue paper flower on Main Street, I had that flower in my room for years!!!

We always lived in Florida so we went quite a few times in the early 70's (I am not sure when my first trip was but it had to have been after 1972 but before 1975) I remember staying at the Polynesian, the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness in my dads van. Then I went in 1985 with my 7th grade class to Epcot. Then with band in 87 and 88 to MK. And Grad Night in 90 at MK. Then I went with my best friend right before I met my DH and that was in 1995. I didn't return to WDW until March of 2004 and now I have been 6 times (3 in 2004 and 3 in 2005!!) I am already planning another trip for April or May and then again in Oct and again in Dec (so I am already looking at another 3 trips this year (oh this could be an expensive habit!! LOL)

My parents wouldn't take us, said it was too expensive, but after 3 of us had moved out, they took my little brother!

So, I went out, found myself a boyfriend who was gainfully employed, pooled our funds, and took my first ever trip to WDW. Hooked ever since. The boyfriend didn't last, but the love of WDW is stronger than ever. When I finally married, I made certain I got a husband who loves WDW too. Although we can't afford to go every year, we know how to do it up right when we do go!

I can't say for certain but I know my first trip was to DL (I think) and I was about 5 or so years old. So that would have been in the 1972 range? After that, we went to WDW and I think I was around 6 or 7. We went there a few times.

My first trip was July 2001. I teared up when we approached the main gate. But I actually cried when I say the castle coming up to Magic Kingdom. It was just my immediate family for this first trip and it was MAGICAL!!! We have twice since and nothing will ever top our first trip! I will treasure it forever as I continue to go back!!!

My first and only trip to WDW was back in May of 1977 with my parents and older sister. I was 7 and my sister had just turned 9. It was the most incredible vacation ever. My dad spent 2 years planning it, which was quite involved since it was prior to the internet. He planned it around school vacations so that there would not be HUGE lines. We went for 2 weeks.

We rented a car, and started out off site visiting Sea World and Circus World for a couple days. When we got to Disney, we stayed in Fort Wilderness. Back then, they had nice motor homes you could rent out in the campground area. My sister and I remember taking the tram all around, watching night time movies outside, going to Water Country (which I am disappointed to hear is no longer there), going to the Hoop Dee Doo Review, and hanging out at the Polynesian pool. After spending a week in Fort Wilderness, we stayed at the Contemporary for a couple days. Back then it was the NICEST hotel I had ever stayed in. I remember the double sinks in the bathroom which I thought was so cool. I remember taking the monerail from there and all around the park. Back then it was only the MK, Epcot wasn't even there yet.

I remember the Dumbo Ride, It's a Small World, Pirates of the Carribean, Peter Pans Flight, seeing Micky Mouse for the first time, and the other characters. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the best vacation we could have ever had. I am not sure why we only went once. Probably because it costs so much that we couldn't afford to do it again. It was a once in a life time trip. Now, almost 30 years later, I am planning a trip with my husband and three children (2, 5, and 7) May 7th thru 12th. I just booked our flights and rented DVC points at VWL. I am so excited that I can't wait. I got so emotional watching the WDW planning DVD that I cried. It is so exciting that now I am going to be enjoying it all over again with my own children. I will update you all upon our return to let you know how it went.

All I need now is the theme park tickets. Anyone out there know the cheapest place to purchase the park tickets? If so, please let me know. Thanks.

Reading everyone's first trip experiences has got me even more excited about going. Only 4 more months till we go. :) :flower:

My first trip was September 2005. I had been wanting to go there for as long as I could remember. Then for my birthday, I received a trip to the World from my boyfriend. I was so thrilled that he got me that for my birthday :teeth: What I didn't know is that he had something else planned. On the day we went to the Magic Kingdom he proposed to me outside of the castle. Now we are both hooked on the World and are looking forward to many more trips.

1979 back when Epcot was under construction. Didn't go back until I was married with 2 kids in May 2002 and have been seriously addicted ever since. I plan on retiring there and living the magic 24/7 one day. :)
This is when we went DH :earsboy: and I :bride: on our honeymoon, 9/79. We also went to Sea World and Circus World while we were there.

I did first visit DL with my sister and cousin back in 1975. That is what made me want to go to WDW on my honeymoon.

As you can see we have been many times. And some day will be moving to Florida after DD(17) graduates high school next year. Can't wait to be closer to the mouse. I love WDW.
