What Year Did You First Become a DVC Member?

We've had several recurring DVC polls over the years and it's always fun to repeat these themes periodically.

What year did you first become a DVC member?

We joined in 1999 @ BWV. Even back then, DIS members were right there answering my questions... Our first trip home was Jan 2000 to BWV, 2BR.

I just joined! It became official last week. I am thrilled.
(the only problem I came across in joining was, after filling out all the paperwork and mailing it back to them, I got a letter saying that I didn't get my mortgage for notarized and I'd have to do it again! Well, of course I got it notarized, it probably got lost somewhere. (sorry just wanted to vent)
I am so happy!

We bought our points in 1997. I received a settlement from a car accident, and our first wedding anniversary was coming up and we were able to buy points under my parents contract. We've always said the deed was our "paper anniversary" gift! We added 80 points at Old Key West to their existing contract.

We purchased our first contract in 2000. I really wish I had found this DISboard BEFORE making that first purchase. We would have been much more informed. Added on in 2002 and 2003.

It took us five years from the first presentation. We wanted a place for the family for years to come and suddenly DVC made the most sense.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom at OKW in Jan 2002 for CASH (great code though), bought 2 OKW resales the next month, added on BCV when it first became available, and then found a BWV contract a few months later.

We started negotiating in August of 98 and made it offcial on feb. of 99. Best investment we ever made.......

We joined officially in June '04, but started the process in March, only 1 month after returning from our first trip to WDW.

I wish we had known about it earlier, we love it and can't wait to add more points so we can visit more often.

I'm the first to check "I will join in 2005"....

Jerry from the Timeshare Store called last nite and said we had passed ROFR on a very small SSR contract. He said we should get papers in 2 or 3 weeks, so that makes us 2005!

and I'll probably start a thread or two about our little entry into DVC!
