What wouldn't you do again?

Could someone please tell me the concept of the Stitch ride? Please don't spare the horribleness of it. We waited in line for it and DS9 started having major anxiety about it even in line. I never really understood why -- he LOVES Stitch, and even though we heard it was a bit crazy, I didn't think it could be that bad. DS did have the flu while we were there so he was a bit out of sorts (we were at MK after several days in the room) so we had no problem just jumping out of line and forgetting about it. It just wasn't worth his discomfort.

After reading so many posts about Stitch really being awful, I am SO GLAD we skipped it! However, we did find the gift shop and bought a Stitch lightswitch cover. :goodvibes Listening to DS9's wishes AND buying him a Stitch souvenir= one happy camper! :stitch2:

You are in a room with seats that surround the center. So sort of like stadium seating in circles. Your seat has shoulder bars (like you would have in a upside down roller coaster)...but instead of you controlling how far they go down, they automatically go down until they feel the pressure of your shoulders, and then they go down a little more. The "show" itself is that you are transporting Stitch to a holding facility, but he escapes. So the room is dark, with smells and (fake) smoke and flashing lights as Stitch "moves" around. It is scary for little kids, you feel trapped, and the story is not very good.

Stitch: as mentioned above, key is to sit up very tall. Stay that way until the harness stops moving, then stay that way longer. Then you can slump a little and you're not in pain the whole time. Or even put your hands up on your shoulders. The ride doesn't move. The seats are fixed. There is no safety reason for the harness, and it doesn't have to fit, except that the speakers will be a bit above your ears.

The only caveat is that there is a point where Stitch is "jumping around" near your shoulders. Be careful or the harness will slip down again during this point. That's, I think, the only other time the harness will move down during the show.

Other than that, the show isn't scary at all to me. It is in the dark, but it doesn't move. Just sound effects and obnoxious smells. Of course it could be scary to children. It's that darn harness that makes the attraction miserable.

One word..... NARNIA. What kind of attraction is that anyway?

We missed Stitch last time (DD% wasn't into it) but now that I know it is basically a scaled down version of AE (am I right??) we may try it just to do it once. I was terrified during AE though, so if it's even remotely close, I'll sit that one out while DH takes her!

Mission space:headache: I thought my head would explode, I love rides(especially roller coasters) But HATED mission space IMO it was just wrong:faint: on the other hand my DS and my dad loved it...

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, that bites.

Before we went, one of my bgf's told me that in AE when you feel the harness coming down, sit up very tall before it locks, I did and then I had "breathing room" which is important if you're prone to anxiety or panic, I try to remember this (Unofficial guide should tell you which rides are scary :scared: or have harnesses)

THANKS!

I'll have to remember that for any other harness rides in Disney! I am planning to get the Unofficial Guide also, got it last time...it was great except I must have skipped over the AE section.:rotfl2:

I completely understand this one! I truly felt like my head was going to explode too -- the pressure was so immense! I am certain I was close to either fainting or having a heart attack (never had either, but boy it was awful!) Never, NEVER again. (and not even the reduced motion one either -- nope, nope, never, NEVER). I remember thinking "Dear God, please just let me LIVE through this one!". :scared1:

Thanks to bopper and unbroken chain on the synopsis of the Stitch ride. Doesn't sound too horrid (as compared to Mission Space anyway), but it was probably good we skipped it as DS wasn't feeling 100%. Doesn't sound like there is a need for us to seek it out next time either.

I heard there was a non-spinning version of Mission Space that wasn't that bad?

I can't ride motion simulators at all so maybe I'm not the best person to respond to this. I rode the original Mission Space (spinning version) and was out of commission for the rest of the day, the only other time I've felt so ill was when I had the flu!

I decided last year that I would do the non-spinning version, well I still didn't handle it very well, nothing like the spinning version but I still got very dizzy and felt sick to my stomach. I don't think I will be doing that one any time soon.

For us, Stitch is definitely the worst one. We felt is was a waste of time. Also, we really didn't get into Narnia. It was basically a synopsis of the movie. We were really thinking there was gonna be more to it. We loved the movie and were expecting more. We did Narnia in 2006 and wouldn't go back unless they've improved it. The actress looked good and the costumes were neat to look at but that was about it. We walked out saying "Is that it? There's got to be more."

MNSSHP!

I've done this after hours party 3 times now and with each year the "value" becomes less and less. The crowds have gotten bigger, the candy lines longer and the the quality of goodies cheaper...(where's the chocolate?????)

I don't have little children and so this year I'll take the the extra $120 and have a really fabulous meal or try the Adventures Club.

Ellen's Energy Adventure in EPCOT...
I love Ellen, but I do not need to ever ride that terribly boring extra long 45 minute snooze fest, unless we need to take a nap. Last year we only went on it so we could get the kids to fall asleep and guess what - not only did the kids fall asleep but my husband and I was able to get a quick cat nap also!

zzzzzzz......zzzzzzzz......zzzzzzzzz.....

I like to try everything once, so I guess I don't regret trying any of these, but what I'm not doing again:

1. Primevel Whirl - ugly, dull, and a little bit painful. It's astonishing that this ride exists in a Disney park. I can understand shooting for greatness and missing, but this ride seemed to be aiming for mediocrity in the first place.

2. The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management - aka Iago interupts the tiki birds and never stops yelling. Thank god the original still exists in Disneyland at least. They ruined the Florida version. I'm not against all change, but I'm against this one.

3. The American Adventure. This is actually a decent attraction, but it's a long process to see it that's not quite worth the time involved. Maybe in another decade or two I'll want to hit it again.

OK, adding a few more:

Lights, Motor, Action: A really good 15 minute show that, unfortunately, keeps going on a lot longer than 15 minutes.

Mission Space: glad I did it once, but not quite enough fun to be worth the painful pressure. Bleh.

Magic Kingdom

Stitch's Great Escape

Epcot

Mission Space (and im a thrill seeker but this ride was just TOO much)

Honey I Shrunk the Audience (good the first 100 times but its time to be updated)

Circle of Life (i agree, unless you need somewhere to cool off)

Disney Studios

Sounds Dangerous w/ Drew Carey (did this one for the first time in Oct, never again... such a waste of time)

I also think the Backlot Tour needs updating.... I'm getting tired of it

Stitch Stinks!!! Take it out & put something worth while in its place. I know that I might take slack for this but I am really not a big fan of the Monsters Inc. Laugh factory??? I get it a little but hmmmmm not really?

I will take flack for this I'm sure but It's a small world. This was our first time to Disney and we left MK to the last. I was disappointed and bored out of my mind on this ride after all of the exciting ones! I know it's a major staple of Disney but OMG! It lasted forever! The kids are creepy

I will never go on Space Mountain again. The inside is really neat but I think I will just take the transit ride through. I came off feeling sore and not so good..same iwth Primevil Hurl.

Stitch
Haunted Mansion
Snow White
Country Bear Jamboree
Tiki Room
Ellen's Energy
Maelstrom
the entire Disney Quest complex

I (& my kids) didn't like any of these! My kids didn't like Dinosaur or the Hall of Presidents, but I like them both. They loved all the kids rids like Astro Orbiter, Dumbo, Carpets, etc, but I didn't ride them.
