)Hurricanes are diffrent than tornadoes though.mickeyholic said:Well, after going through hurricane Rita, I would take my cell phone, water, pillow, blanket, toothbrush, photo's and scrapbooks, and some clean undies, trust me, you will need them. They are scary!!!

I hear ya. Tornado Alley was my home for 14 yrs.TinkInPink said:Well where i live this is reality. we have at least one tornado every year around here. and not just like in the county i mean like a giant rotating wall cloud 2 miles away. what we do is, i grab max (stuffed dog i have had since i was one) the guinea pig/ turtle/ cat and family and head to basement.
Where do you live? I lived in NE Oklahoma, near Tulsa. You don't "evacuate". You head to the lowest, most central room in your house, and pray.lil_minnie said:I would be smart enough to evacuate when I heard that a tornado was expected to hit. But although it is extremely rare, if the tornado was unexpected I'd grab:
My cats (duh, I would never leave them behind)
Lamby (my aunt gave me a plush lamb before she died)
Rainbow & Peeking (two beanie baby bears I've had since childhood)
My favorite baby blankie (I still carry it around for good luck)
My jewlery box (it holds my treasured nick-knacks)
My diary (don't want anyone touchin' it)
My lucky pendant (in a tornado, I need all the luck I can get)
Exactly what I was going to say. I think, lil_minnie, you are getting a tornado confused w/ a hurricane. Tornados form really fast, and once they do, trying to outrun them would be futile. Plus, there usually isn't just one single tornado happening, so if you tried to "evacuate" you may very well just be heading towards another one.MuNkY said:You don't "evacuate".
