I wanna buy one of these guide books but i dunno which ones there so many

  • Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets
  • The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic
  • The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids
  • Beyond Disney: The Unofficial Guide to Universal, Sea World and the Best of Central Florida
  • Birnbaum's Walt Disney World
  • The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World Resort: How to Get the Most Out of the Best Disney Has to Offer
  • Fodor's Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and Central Florida

there's a 15yr old 20yr old and the parents, we been to disney many times, which book even if we dont use it, still something to read on plane

i do like the look of these two best Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets and
The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic, but i dunno whether there have the same kinda things it, i also want one bout universal and seaworld too

HELP!!!

what info do these book actually give you? like best times to do which rides etc...

the books on the list are just some i found off amazon, not nesseracy the ones im choosing from, just the ones i found, there so many

Well I have most of those, ;) I see you havent mentioned the Brits Guide to Orlando and WDW by Simon Veness , that is my favorite, I also love the Unofficial Guide as well.

The Walt Disney World Trivia Book is more of a quiz book and although very interesting not so much a planning book. The same with the Hidden Mickeys.

Hope this helps :goodvibes

The only one I buy is the Brit's Guide, I know it is not one you list.

I like Unofficial Guide's unbiased view

These two aren't guidebooks, per se, but as you've been so many times, maybe that's not such an issue. If you really are just looking for something to keep you occupied on the plane, then either could be a good bet (I prefer the Trivia one; I've never quite understood the appeal of hidden Mickeys).

If you want a comprehensive guidebook, then the Unofficial Guide certainly takes some beating as far as WDW is concerned. It does have chapters on Universal and Sea World, too.

Birnbaum's is OK, but, as the offiical guide, it's more like one of the souvenir books on sale in the parks. For everything Disney (totally immersive, I don't think a thing is left out), Passporter is far superior.

The Luxury Guide sounds like a good idea, but it misses the mark somehow. I think it's looking for an angle that doesn't really exist unless you're willing to leave a lot out (and the author obviously couldn't bring herself to do that). It's just another guidebook - not a bad one, but really no different to any other.

Beyond Disney is the Unofficial Guide's nod to Universal and Sea World. Not the best.

Fodor's is a good solid guidebook, but not as good as the Unofficial guide.

For a first-timer, A Brit's Guide really is the best all-round guide. I was a bit slow to cotton on, but every British visitor to Orlando should make this their first choice.

Oh, did I mention that I am on the Guidebookaholics Anonymous 12 point plan? :rotfl2:

Me too :teeth:

I actually really like to Luxury Guide for the detailed descriptions of the resorts and dining reviews but the version I last bought was hopelessly outdated and IMO the park touring information not that good.

I like the Brit's Guide for a good overview :thumbsup2

The UOG I just like for its slightly irreverent tone and detail :thumbsup2

The full 'the unofficial guide to WDW'

Yes just get the regular edition, or the compact Mini Mickey edition if you just want the basics. Also if visiting the other parks then Beyond Disney: The Unofficial Guide to Universal, Sea World and the Best of Central Florida, is very good too :)

Claire ;)

I have been going many years now and have a number of TUG to WDW and each year they do update it add more and I find it so helps with planning the trip to ensure you know in advance what you want to see rasther than debate or consider it when you are there, and whilst i have used it many years, its ideas are only read by a propotion of WDW guests so in the main work.

PS does anyone know about the secret garden and viewing area at the ROSE and CROWN, well I think everyone has read that now!!

I too like both the Brits Guide (great for your first trip) and the Unofficial Guide, but my out and out favourite is the Passporter Guide to WDW which you can get on UK Amazon for about 12 quid.

Must admit, i get the birnbaums guide and usually update it each year (NO IDEA WHY, NOTHING REALLY CHANGES APART FROM THE NEW ATTRACTIONS, WHICH I GET TO KNOW THROUGH THE DIS) :)

Never tried the other books.

Has to be the Brits Guide for us. I recommend it to everyone I know who is thinking of going to Florida :)

Me too whether WDW or DLP versions.

I'm not a fan of the Unofficial guide and had to give it away as couldn't sell it on ebay :teeth:

how thick is this book??

any good, if already been to disney or should i get the triva book

Unofficial Guide has planning info. about when to go, information about Disney and off site hotels, reviews of all Disney restaurants and counter service, details of rides/attractions and touring plans to minimise queueing times (with different versions for families, couples etc).

It's over 780 pages - 40mm or 1.5" thick!!

In my opinion yes - even if you've been to Disney before it's worth it.

Agree with the above comments a very useful book indeed for anyone :)

Claire ;)

:figment: We used the brits guide the last time we visited in 2003 and are using the more upto date version again this time around, we've found this guide extremely useful and very easy to follow and would definately recommend it.
