We are going to WDW May 15-19 for star wars weekends. We're flying...(DB,DH,me) In December DH and I are going after Christmas (Dec 26-Jan 3 I believe)...now, I would like to either plan a trip for mid-late August for myself, DB,DH, and DDad, (maybe DM) for DH and my birthdays. We would be driving, since DDad Can't fly. OR, I could plan another weekend trip in October to celebrate our first anniversary (that would just be DH and me)

I can not decide at all! Is it too much May , August, December?

I appreciate and look forward to your suggestions;)

I think I would take Oct over Aug. While Oct is usually still hot, it shouldnt be as hot as Aug. But my 1st reason for picking Oct is you could hit MNSSHP and if you go to Universal you could hit HHN.
By the way if I could go 3 times in a year you better believe I would, lol, even if it was 3 months in a row!

Well, I would choose Oct. over August for the weather and crowds. Also in Oct. you can do MNSSHP. But I guess you would have to make the decision of whether you want to include the others on this trip, and if they can't go in Oct., it looks like you're stuck with August.

August isn't THAT bad, especially towards the end of the month, when crowds start to die down a bit. But I, too, would take October in a heart beat. Halloween in Disney is great, the weather is more agreeable, and if you hit it right, you can see the Epcot Food and Wine Festival October 18 - November 16.

Warning, avoid the FUNAI Classic at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort - October 23 - 26, 2003. This can beef up crowds a bit, although most that come for this event are at the round of the day. Still, I'd avoid it, personal opinion.

And hey: Lucky you with three trips in a little more than six months!

I was laughing reading your post Pat! I got married at WDW last year during the golf tournament! Oct 21! We LOVED the food and wine festival and MNSSHP was so crowded...I really didn't enjoy it that much! It poured like I never saw it pour at the end of that night! I am partial to October...but being a teacher, getting days off isn't easy! Would a weekend trip be ok? ;)

Married during the golf classic? Did your husband have something to do with picking that date? ;)

The return of EE blew my old weekend plan out of the water, by putting MK on Sunday EE, but I bet it's still not that bad. The only universal truth about Disney appears to be that come Saturday, somebody and several thousand of their friends will be at MK. But if it were me (and man, do I wish it was), I'd go to Epcot on Saturday, MK on Sunday.

I've never been to MNSSHP. Shame about the rain, but rest assured, your chances of rain are far greater in October than August!

If you do go, try spending an evening at Citiwalk DW and I are big fans of Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville. Citiwalk is ok, but I've never found it to be great guns outside of Jimmy's place (or Emerils if you have a few grand to spend on dinner !). But Halloween seemed to bring the best out of Citiwalk. Neat theming...

Actually, no DH had no clue about golf tourney...so he says ha ha!
My DH, DB and DBIL actually were given passes to go by a man who had them, but he and his colleagues had to leave early...so they got to go for a little while...:)
I LOVE the weather in October...

October is my favorite time, weather wise. I'm a pasty white redhead and I burn at midnight in February. So the warm but not obnoxious temps agree with me. Alas, my wife the sun-bunny feels that the occasional evening dip into the fifties makes it "un-Florida like," so we've moved our fall venture to September. But what the heck. September's good, too. So don't write off September!

Welcome to the boards, Sidewalk!
MNSSHP is an acronym (one of MANY we use here) for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It is a separate, ticketed event that takes place at the Magic Kingdom several dates in Oct. It is really geared toward families with kids, thus "Not So Scary"...

Pat--
That is funny!!! My Dh is the same way with the sun...
I am sure Sept. is beautiful! Un fortunately, unless I get a different profession that teaching, I won't be able to experience it!
I was thinking of maybe early November...but they deem that Jersey Week since so many people go down from NJ due to teachers convention...
I think October will be best! It was in the 80s the day I got married...I don't remember it dipping down too too much, but I agree with your wife about temps in the 50's...

You might want to check into that November thing. There was a recent post that seemed to suggest the crowds at "Jersey Week" were myth. But I'd still stick with October. Take your students. Can't we call that educational travel? Just a thought...

My students are 4...sure they'd love it but I don't know about DH!;) October seems to be it for me!

I am thinking of going for the weekend...Oct 17- october 20...Is that too short? Our anniversary is October 21 and we got married at Disney, so I was thinking of celebrating our first wedding anniversary in WDW. It's hard to try to plan a surprise though!

Go over your wedding anniversary!!! Check out Gifts of a Lifetime to plan a small surprise. I think Oct. would be perfect!
