What would you pay for your child to go to WDW on a school trip?

My brother did his band trip when he was in HS about 5 years ago and i think it was about $700. (I was a chaperone :teeth: )

So $800 5 years later does not sound that bad to me.

Im sure your brother LOVED that!!

We also pay $395 just to be in band to start with, so added to the $800 trips it is quite a bit. I had two kids in the band last year - thank goodness one graduated! (DS 15 is required to pay 1/2 of his trip fees.)

That $395, does each child pay this each year? What does it go to?

Thanks for some of your fundraiser ideas!:D

I don't think that the trip is outragously expensive for what is included. However you must have a majority of the parents on board or all you will hear is complaints.

One thing that my daughters school did for her DC trip is each child had an individual account. Whatever they made from the fundraisers went into their account and if they made over the amount it could be directed to another students account or went to the general fund. We had a variety of fundraisers but my favorites were the candy bars (I could have paid for her whole trip if I could have gotten more candy bars but they ran out) and the raffle tickets. As long as parents and students are given many oportunities to raise the necessary funds I think your budget is doable.

While it seems like there are a lot of bands marching at WDW it is an honor to be picked. Although it is not a necessary activity it is a learning experience different from competitions or parades.
