What would you have done?

I am thinking most posters here did not really have a big problem (or any) with the peeing in a bottle... it was that fact that she left it there!

While the bladder is considered sterile,,, urine still can have many things in it..... so it was the mothers poor choice of leaving it for someone else to take care of that upsets most.

Then again, urine is sterile, so I don't personally really consider it to be a biohazard, not from a 5 year old. Not really.

You must be kidding urine is not sterile. It's the body's way of eliminating toxins. If urine was sterile people with kidney failure would not need to be on dialysis.

That is just utterly disgusting. I feel bad for the kid who had to do it and probably for the sake of the kid would cause a scene, but I would go find a cast member and hope that the family had to clean it up, not the CM. I just don't get some people.

So by that reasoning you don't mind if people don't wash their hands between going to the bathroom and handling your food? Because it's sterile, right?

Bodily fluids left in public places are Not Okay.

Good point DevilDuckie!! I'll take the hand washing PLEASE!!!!

OK, last year we were waiting for a bus to go to the Beach Club just to look around. I looked down at this little boy (maybe 3) in line in front of us - he had poop running down his legs. His parents got some hotel washcloths out of their bag and sort of wiped his legs off. Apparently they didn't have a change a clothes because he got on the bus loaded with poop in his drawers (and still on his legs) and they left their poopy washcloths on the ground by my feet. I couldn't figure out why they didn't get out of line and take him to a restroom and clean him off. :confused3

Urine is sterile.

Leaving it lying about in a bottle, though, is nasty.

I'm with those who think the peeing in the bottle is OK, but not leaving it behind like they did - that's the unfortunate part of this situation, IMO.

In regard to taking the kid to the bathroom before the long lines, DS7 had to go to the bathroom about 1000 times on our last trip, I swear.

I do plan potty breaks into our touring plans, and I wasn't giving him a lot to drink... but, he always had to go and at the most inoportune times - towards the end of a line or in the middle of a show. I seriously wondered if he didn't have some kind of infection or something, because it was very unusual how much he had to go. He didn't complain of pain, though, so we just dealt with it. But, it was very frustrating and I might have done the bottle thing if I'd thought of it.

With four kids I think we spent more time in restrooms than on rides
:rotfl:

Sterile or no, its just plain gross! I once saw a woman get asked to leave the Splash line because she was wearing bikini top (yes, another debate entirely ;) ) but these people just cruise on? Yep, I definately would have said something to a CM.

No one except diaper wearers should be "going" in public (except for a in a public restroom, of course). I understand emergencies and going into a container while inside of a private vehicle (no weeing on the bus or monorail, please!), but in line at a theme park? No. Just no. There is a big bathroom right by Splash Mountain they could have used. And no matter how sterile urine might be, would you want to be the one who accidentally kicked the bottle over onto your shoes and legs? Ugh.

Gross. I would have caused a little ruckus if they left the bottle there. For everyone saying urine isn't such a big deal, it's sterile... I invite you all to come to work with me for one day, where 3 of the patients I treated today had + MRSA in their urine. Fun times.

:confused3 Long term care facility? The chances that the little boy had mrsa in his urine are pretty slim, i'd say. And I don't recall, although I could have missed it, where anyone said it was appropriate, or a decent thing to leave laying about.

so the kid pees in a bottle?????...i have 3 girls so to me this seems totally impossible, but hey, go for it kid, if your mom and dad told you to do it. poor kid, doesn't have a chance, with parents like that!

i agree with doing it in the privacy of your own car, when the time comes, you gotta go when you gotta go. but they were in line:confused3 ....for a ride:confused3 ...in wdw...with people in front and behind them:confused3

heres the thing....that kid, bless his heart for doing what he was told to do by his parents, got on a ride, that the op and several other hundreds thousands rode after....and since peeing in public and into a bottle, there was no sink around to wash hands.....most rides you have to pull a lap lock down, or do a seatbelt up...and now his pee pee hands have touched it and now you touched it...

ok, grossed out. totally grossed out.

but kudos for the kid who got 'it' in the bottle. my girls would have 'it' all over their legs, their clothes, the pavement, and the hands of whomever was holding said bottle.:lmao:

Skilled Nursing Facility. Short term Rehab and long term care. It may be slim that this boy didn't have anything in his urine, but it's not impossible. With all the outbreaks in schools with kids who play contact sports, anything is possible. I may be a germaphob but for a good reason.

I get the child had to go (when you gotta go, you gotta go) But to leave it there, is just crazy.

Absolutely not. The parents should have left the line and taken the child to the bathroom. I cannot believe anyone thinks this is okay to do! Yes, I get that you have been there all day and you are standing in long lines, but come on! If he couldnt hold it, then it's off tothe bathroom, and we would get back in line later. No questions. I cannot believe some people.

I'm not surprised or grossed out about the bottle (I've dealt w/ my fair share of pee bottles) but leaving it there? It's beyond rude and nasty.

If I wasn't up to confronting them, I'd have trashed it myself. I couldn't in good conscience leave it there knowing what it was.

And yes, urine IS sterile. Until is leaves the body and makes contact with skin. Therefore, as soon as it leaves your body, it is no longer sterile. So a bottle of urine would not be considered sterile.

We were viewing the pre-show in the holding room of Dinosaur and a woman instructed her granddaughter to pee on the floor and she did!

She was about 4, and kept saying "I have to go potty" over and over. Her grandmother leaned over and hissed "You just go right there then." She must have done it (she was wearing a loose sacky sundress), because when the lights came back up, there was a dark spot on the carpet:scared1: !

There was an older girl about 7 with them, and she "Grandma, shouldn't we tell someone the baby peed on the floor?" and Grandma said "No - they can just discover it for their own selves!" and she swanned right in to the rest of the line!

I'd have started shouting for a CM to clear up a biohazard. I'd also have made sure everyone in the area knew where it came from.

"Excuse me! Those people left a bottle of urine sitting here! Can you find a janitor to clean it up?"

Ditto! Along with lots of pointing, so that everyone knew who did it! Disgusting!

I'm not that grossed out by peeing in a bottle under emergency conditions in private, but the fact was they had PLENTY of other options. Allowing a small child to pee in a bottle in the privacy of your vehicle when you have an emergency is one thing, as is letting them pee in a bottle when you are somewhere where there are no bathrooms. This wasn't the case though.

If there was more than one adult with this child, which there obviously was if they could surround him to shield him from view, surely one of them could have taken the poor kid out of the line to the bathroom while the other parent held their place. If the person behind them commented on it later, they would have been justified in saying, "Well, what do you want us to do, have him pee in a bottle?" LOL I wouldn't be so mean to penalize someone in front of me in a line if their kid had to pee. I mean how much real inconvenience and extra waiting does it cause for two people to exit and reenter the line? Not much.

Also, they could both have left the line and taken him. Troublesome perhaps, but kids aren't always convenient and if you aren't prepared for that fact, I don't recommend you have any.

There is no excuse for leaving the bottle of pee on the ground no matter the situation.
