What would you have done differently?

i have thought about this over the past 2 weeks and no. there really is nothing I would do differently. I loved our wedding and right now have no regrets.

we didn't plan to have Mickey there (too much money), our parents surprised us with him. If i did it differently i would've definately put it in the budget forus!

The main thing I would have done differently is been more expressive about my wishes and not relied on the "they are the experts" thinking. They (anyone from Disney to the photographer to anyone) might be the experts, but they are not mind readers!!! Other than that...nope...I loved every second and while some things I wish I would have done, I loved how everything turned out and wouldn't change it for anything...

I hat an intimate wedding but looking back I would have:
A. Had a custom
B. Had a dessert party for illuminations the night before after
C. Had Mickey and Minnie
D. Hired a videographer.

I totally agree with Codie - I kept thinking with the photographer and videographer that "they're the experts", but looking back I wish I had told them specific things that I had wanted, or at least told them I didn't like my profile shot lol!

At first I was really glad I got the videographer, but now that it's been 3 months, I realize that I watch the amateur footage a lot but almost never the professional one!! When I watch the professional footage I dont' feel like it was really me. Of course when planning, nobody said they would be recording, so I felt I needed a videographer. In hindsight I wished I had saved the two thousand dollars and just asked more people to record with their camcorders! I paid for the raw footage thinking the videographer would capture a lot of "candid" moments, but he didn't really get any, but I guess I didn't ask him to, which leads me to my next point..

I wish I had been very SPECIFIC with the things I wanted... Some of the things I just "assumed" they did or was done - never assume!! Everything I "assumed" I was wrong about!

I'm not sure if a DJ was the right thing for our reception.. It was really early and not a lot of people at the wedding wanted to dance.. especially me!! I'm not positive I'd change it if I could, it might have been boring without the DJ, but I'd certainly give it a second thought if I was re-doing the wedding.

If one of the bridges at the ceremony location hadn't been under "construction" the flower arrangements I had paid a lot of money for would have been perfect... but since we altered the direction of the altar, the flowers just kind of got ignored and didn't really add anything to the wedding, so I don't know if I would have paid for those if I was doing it again. Especially since they put the flower arrangements like behind the bridesmaids and groomsmen when it was supposed to frame the bride and groom... so that was 450 dollars I could have saved I think!

I wish I had planned something for later in the day for my wedding day. We had an early morning wedding, so I thought we'd all be exhausted and that me and Jim would want time to ourselves, but after the wedding all I wanted was for the celebration to continue and to be around people!!

That's really it, and even those aren't that big of a deal. Everything else I wanted to change was out of my control anyway. Overall though, I loved my wedding and thought things went off great :)

This is a good thread and an great opportunity for all of you experienced brides to let us know- Thanks for the advice so far!!!

Hope you dont mind me jumping in (I had an intimate wedding).
There are tons of things you think of afterwards that you wish you had done, although our day was just superb.
The only thing I really wish I had done is hire STVS for videography.
I would love to look back and watch it all unfold and I can't because I didn't hire them.
I thought about it and thought 'nah we have the photo's', but it's not enough for me.
The day happens so fast that you lose yourself a little and forget what happened and when. It would be just lovely to re-live that magical day.

Looking back there are only two things i would change...
First I'd have kept my petals on the ground in the WP...I just loved the way they looked, but during budget time it was one of the things we cut...(everyone told me no one would be looking down)...Second I would have complained about my cake...While it was very pretty it was not the picture I gave them (no where close actually)...Also it was supposed to be on one of those silver stands like in Franks....but it was served on Aluminum foil....If it was just on the stand i would have been happy...but now all the pictures looks like its missing something...
those are really just little things.....so overall I can say it went really well
