What would you do?

We have a 7night res for POR 8/28-9/4 with AAA rate. Since discovering these boards and becoming and addict like the rest of you I have begun to fall in love with WL. I was already beginning the mental debate of whether to split our say when DH came home and said we have been offered an entire week at a condo in Kississimme (no pool, etc., but large 2 br with kitchen and most important FREE!) Immediately I said, fine for a few days maybe even adding a few days extra to our vacation at the beginning of our trip, but eventually let's head to DW and stay at a resort. He is a bit confused as to why I wouldn't want to stay somewhere that is free and use that money towards more fun. I tried to explain the resort is part of the vacation , right? Would you
A: Stay the entire week at the condo and spend the money elsewhere
B: Stay at the condo for a few days and use the money towards a deluxe
C: Stay at the condo for a few days and use the money towards a moderate (POR)

OH yea..... we've never been before!!!!! Help us make a decision. This is our first big family vacation the pressure is making me coo-coo!!!

Do you have kids?? For DS, it's not a vacation if there's no pool so even at free, we'd probably turn it down.... If the pool (or lack thereof) isn't a big issue for you, then it's the age old debate of on-site vs. off-site, how much much you want to spend and what things "make" a vacation good for you. You are talking about being there at a hot time of year with some crowds around Labor Day, so the benefits of staying on-site (EMH, easier to go back to the room for a break, etc.) are worth considering. In the end, you'll have a wonderful time wherever you stay!

Just my opinion because I am a nut about staying on site (and I also like a bargain!).

How about going for a few extra days, staying for free and doing on-Disney things? That way you when you are on site, it will be total Disney. Staying on site is very important to us.....

On first glance I would say go for (B) stay at the condo for a few days and then stay at WL the rest....

Of course, then my thrifty side says that (C) would also be a great idea too, stay at the condo a few days then at POR the rest, and with the $ you saved, do some fun character meals or other fun Disney stuff!

Staying on site is soooooo much fun. I don't think I'll ever go back off-site again!

how about both - use the free condo - but at the end of this stay - try WL for a couple of days - then he will understand....

I'd save the money and start planning the next trip with all the trimmings (maybe around Christmas ) .

thanks for your advice! I feel like we could stay 9 days (4 in condo, 5 on DW resort) I think we will just keep POR res since we've never been, we don't know what we are missin then visit WL on our last day and convice DH to make next trip to the BIG DADDY I've heard all great things about POR and I want to accomodate MIL with nice resort and pool so she can watch our kiddos a couple of times and dh and i can go out . I feel like I can't make a decision without consulting my board of fellow fanatics!
