:sad2: Okay so I have been planning on going to DL for the past 7 months, hotel ressies and all. Last night DH (not so sure about dear right now  ) informs me that our vacation to DL for the start of the 50th anniversary is being cancelled. He states that he cannot get the time off of work. Someone bumped him for the time. Now I have made our plans very open, have told him to get the req or at least plant the seed that we are going at this time with someone at work, well he did not. Then he has the gaul to tell me that it is not a big deal and I should not worry about it. He makes me crazy. He also called and cancelled our ressies that I have had for the past 7 months. Now, I am having trouble looking at him or even thinking about him. So much for a family vacation.
Not real sure how I am going to handle this. I am very very upset, I just wanted to go and be there for the opening day. I did not want to go with out him, just because of the memories with the kids. Guess my priorities are in a different place.
Now keep in mind I am the one whom has saved and saved so that this would be a very memborable trip.
Please tell me that I am not over reacting to this. DH says that I am over reacting. Your thoughts?

TIA

yikes !!!
and sorry ...
dont know what i would do ... other than be mad and upset and dissappointed and all that ....
do you have any plans to reschedule?
i know you had your heart set on opening day ... but if you can reschedule maybe you can try a time when it wont be so crazy busy.

personally, i rather go at a quiet time even if it mean missing things
we'll be in DL next week with no space, splash, fantasmic, fireworks, or parades.... plus cold and rainy weather but i know my DH would be very crabby on a crazy crowded day.

you didnt say how old your kids were ... if there old enough maybe you should consider going without DH ... unless its $$ issue
if you could go on your own ... it would be a different type of trip but still fun

again sorry your plans got so trashed and no i definitely dont think you're over-reacting ... even if you were a part of the decision-making to cancel the trip you have a right to sad, and upset ... but without being a part of the decison you should certainly be mad

a thought ... did you ever read anything by jennifer cruise?
a book called "Faking it" ... they have a "poor baby" when the girl gets dumped by her BF evryone in the family says "poor baby" and gives her sympathy and chocolate ... consider this a "poor baby" for you.
read the book ...its trashy and fun

hope you have a better today

:grouphug: I have been in your shoes before and I know how upset I would be. When you are not so upset you need to have a conversation with him to find out the reasons behind the cancellation.

I have planned trips before and had work get in the way. Sometimes I take the kids alone, sometimes DH takes the kids alone and sometimes we all go and one or both of us has to work during the trip. I am sure there is a compromise in this situation.

I can tell by your passion that you will get to Disneyland during the 50th Celebration. :wizard:

I'd say go without him. Seriously, take the kids and go and relax! Turn the cell phone off during the day and enjoy yourselves fully. It will provide the kids with a different type of memory! And I'm sure that you'll have a wonderful time together. I have heard that the kick off weekend is more geared towards being a media event so why not try and make plans for the following weekend? Or if you are able to do weekdays, arriving Kickoff weekend & celebrate Mother's Day with the kids and stay for a few days after.

We were supposed to go down for Spring Break in 03 and mine cancelled at the last min. due to work but I still went, I took my SIL(best friend)with me and my boys and we had SUCH a wonderful time!!! Totally different, but just absolutely wonderful!!

I'm really sorry :grouphug: that your hubby is ruining your plans for the 50th, but I say GO! and have fun!! :earboy2:

If you take a step back and consider that you can possibly postpone it for a week or two just so he can go, maybe this is an alternative to consider.

OTOH, I agree with dsnylndmom. If your DH can't see how much this trip would mean, not so much to you, but for the kids, then maybe you should consider going without him. Your kids are only young once and to miss out on their expression when they're at the original Magic Kingdom could be tough to handle.

Sorry to sound so indecisive but this is a tough one....Good luck to you!

I am one who believes that sometimes things happen the way they do for a reason. Maybe you could consider another time that might be better after all. I am planning to go the last week before Labor Day; since that is considered "value season" I am saving quite a bit of money at DLH and hoping the crowds will be a little lighter since some states are back in school by then. You might have more fun if you can go at a less crowded time. :flower:
