if you had a day and half at a Disney resort and didn't go into the parks (gasp!)

My family (Myslef, DH, and DSs 3 & 5) is doing 2 days pre-DCL at SoG, but we aren't going into the parks. We are going to do some of the Disney activities we never do because we spend all of our time in the parks!

Any suggestions??

do a tour
or
You could go to the Boardwalk or DTD.
Check out the other resorts
bus hop
ride the monorail

Take your DDs to FW and let them visit the petting zoo. It's great. Also, they have pony rides for 1$, I believe. Have fun!!

I think they'd love Downtown Disney. There's a playground and a ton of Legos at the Lego store for them to play with; a train and a caroseul; the Rainforest Cafe has audioanimatronic animals and live parrots and fish; two giant toy stores; and a McDonald's if you want to eat a little bit on the cheaper side! :)

Downtown Disney and resort hop........my favorite non-park things!

Here's what we have done:
1. Fort Wilderness has a free campfire and Disney movie in the evening (call your resort's front desk to see what movie is playing). I can't remember what time it starts. Chip and Dale come out with a cast member to sing songs. You can purchase marshmallows or smores to roast over the campfire.

2. Visit other resorts you haven't seen yet. We did this last time and now we are staying at WL next month. It's fun to see how each resort is different.

3. Shop and dine at the Boardwalk or at Downtown Disney.

4. Rent water mice at the marinas or a surrey bike at the Boardwalk.

Have fun!

Tons of ideas.........we now DO not go to the parks every day we re there. We head over to fort wilderness......Rent a potoon boat, eat at the buffet (trails end) the best a nd cheapest breakfast. Head over to the camp fire or take a hay ride. Or you can catch the hoop de doo revue (or another dinner show). There is so much to do there. Just head over a grab a map. We use this time to get aquainted with the other hotels too. Although, I do not believe they allow guests to use the pool we sometimes do this. Theres always downtown disney and the boardwalk too. If you can go off property there is many things to do. Helicopter rides, go carts, etc. But as far as staying on property Fort wilderness is the way to go.
So much more to do there explore it and have fun.

Outlet shoping, Downtown Disney, Campfire, resort hop, resort character meal, DVC tour, pool, watch the chanel on the resort tv that plays Disney clips, etc, people watch, sit there and take it all in. I would be in a state of nirvana just being there...
