OK Dis people, I need some advice. I have a discounted Pop preferred room booked direct through Disney for March 10-16. I can switch to a Hotwire deal for Coronado that would save me more than $450. Seems like a no-brainer, right?

The Dilemma: the last time I stayed at Coronado (Sept 2017), I discovered that A) CSR is really dang big, especially after a full day in the parks B) I can’t eat really any of the food there because I can’t have anything with seasoning (weird tongue issue) and I‘m also super picky so most of the non-seasoned things, like salads or whatever, are not things I eat.

So, should I save money and exist on park food for meals, and potentially have to walk a lot at my resort, or keep my existing reservation?

I think you should take a look at what is being offered currently at everything Pop on the menu. I was surprised at how small the quick serve menus are with mobile order & Covid. Are there not the same staples (ie basic food) at Coronado? Is it possible to get preferred at Coronado?(either now or at check in w/pay extra if you don't like your location) would you still come out ahead?

I was at Pop in October and I was ok with the food on offer. The problem I found with the food at Coronado in 2017 is that they seasoned even basic food like burgers and fries.

I just booked a hotwire deal for Pop this afternoon for early March, so it's possible something will come up for your dates. I checked back every few days until something popped up.

The only Pop deal on there now is for 11% off a standard room, which is only a marginal savings over booking the same room direct and discounted from Disney. 😢

Your poll confuses me...shouldn't the options be less money, less walking, more food options vs. more money, more walking, less food? If so, I pick the first.

If those were the choices, there would be no need for a poll. The less walking, more food options choice (Pop), however, costs more because she found a very good price for Coronado.

Yeah that happened for me too and then a few days later this deal popped up.

You were last there before the Three Bridges restaurant had been constructed. The bridges that connect this restaurant to the "main land" have helped to make it much easier to navigate the resort, no matter where your room is located. The bridges put a big cut-through between the resort over the lake, so the size of the resort is much less of a concern IMO.

So, the food dilemma you have might be the only issue. CSR's food facilities are limited currently (just like everywhere else) and they are operated by third parties, so you're not always getting plain or dumbed down food en masse like we see at other food courts or QS. But I think its still possible to ask them to prepare your foods without seasoning - you could even reference an allergy if need be. If it were me, it would be worthwhile to save $450 and take my chances that I'd find something to eat at the resort. Or I'd plan to eat elsewhere for each meal. Or I'd use some of that savings and do a grocery order for my room.

You can always discuss food requirements before ordering... Disney is very good at preparing meals based on health concerns. Three Bridges is amazing. For me, this is a no-brainer... CSR has many more dining options as well. There is Dahlia Lounge atop the Gran Destino also. I'm changing to Coronado.

Check the Tower price, Gran Destino is a deluxe resort hidden within a moderate...

If you like POP, and it works for your needs and vacation style, then I would keep it. Personally, I don't even look at the pricing for resorts that don't fit my vacation needs, it doesn't matter, to me, how much I would save if the resort doesn't work for me.

Yes, I agree with gillep. You have to look at the value you are getting for your money. If Pop provides a lot more value to you, it is worth more money. Since you booked it, the amount was already agreeable to you. So, I think you know what you want to do already. If the money was the most important factor, you wouldn't have needed the poll.

Oh, so it's going to cost her more to stay at a value over the moderate? I see; that would be a tougher choice. I thought they meant it would be 450 cheaper than a regular price at CSR...didn't realize 450 cheaper than Pop.

I would switch to CSR. That is a big savings and a moderate is always an upgrade in my opinion—rooms are comfier, grounds are more resort like, pool is great. And I do hear such great things about three bridges.
