What would you do?

All three options are technically in my budget, but my brain is getting the best of me because of the cost savings here and there.

Our trip is 5 days, 4 nights (4 day park hopper passes, split stay between Poly and YC). Planning on making ADRs at Ohana (dinner); Kona (breakfast); Cali Grill (dinner - birthday dinner - fingers crossed we get this ADR). Would LOVE to do Boma breakfast but not sure on the logistics.

1. Most cost effective - 1 night Poly, 3 nights YC. Spend the day at MK after a yummy breakfast at Kona while our luggage is transferred to YC during the day. But do I make it more difficult to get back to Cali Grill for dinner since we'll be in the Epcot area?

2. Middle of the road - 1 night Poly, 3 nights YC with car rental. This would allow us to do Boma for breakfast one morning and drive to Contemporary for dinner and pack our luggage in the car on our switch day

3. Most expensive - 2 nights Poly, 2 nights YC. No travel required for Cali Grill except a quick trip on the monorail. Check out in the AM, head to Epcot for the day and then walk over to YC for check in.

The more I think about it, the more difficult I think logistics are for option 1 and I'm not sure how different in cost options 2 and 3 will be with a car rental. I just need someone to reassure me that it's worth the extra cost.

I NEED AN INTERVENTION!!!

I stay almost always in the Epcot resort area and traveling to MK or MK resorts is a pain.

Although I would not do a split stay on a 4 night trip, if you are determined to do it, I would go with option 3.

What about taking a taxi to the California grill? Having a rental car just doesn't seem worth the hassle or the cost.

I'm not sure I'm seeing why option 1 is so hard -

Night at Poly
Breakfast at Kona
Day at MK (during the day Disney transfers luggage to YC)
Dinner: take monorail or walk to CR for ressie at Cali Grill
Take monorail or walk back to MK, catch a bus to YC, check in.

Downside to this would be that check in is later in the evening.

Alternative to renting a car is to take a taxi to either your CG and/or Boma ressies.

I'd do 2 nights at Poly and 2 at YC. Staying for just 1 night wouldn't allow me to enjoy the stay as I wouldn't be willing to unpack and get organized only to repack early the next morning.

Are you 100% committed to doing a split stay? To me it would make much more sense to either do 4 nights at Poly or 4 nights at YC. Split stays are nice for longer vacations but I personally wouldn't consider one for just 4 nights. I would just feel settled when it was time to move to the new resort.

I wouldn't make up my mind until I knew the status of my California Grill reservation. I don't know when you're planning your visit, but there is still no definite date for the CG re-opening. I read on the disney food blog that they are accepting reservations for November 18 and beyond, but as we now from the GF renovations, Disney construction completion dates are not terribly firm.

I'm not sure I would do a split stay for that short of a time but I see the appeal.

I would do 2 and 2 for sure.

I would not do a split stay for that few of nights. It will be more of a hassle and waste of time than just staying in one place, especially when traveling with a baby and all the baby gear. The benefit of being near MK isn't that big of a deal for just one day. We were just at the YC in May and never had an issue getting to or from MK what so ever. I wouldn't pack up and move resorts to save time on one tiny bus ride, the amount of time it will take to switch resorts is going to kill hours compared to a few extra minutes on a bus. I have done dozens of split stays, trust me!

I would agree that that may be too short for a split. If you are determined to split, then option 3 seems the best route! ;)

Ditto what PP's have said regarding split stays over that short of a trip. That being said, if that's what you want to do, then do it and it'll all work out fine. If you decide that that IS what you want to do, then option 3 would be our choice. 1 night isn't enough time to get acclimated IMO.

I agree with the pp's that I wouldn't do a split for such a short trip. We did a 2/4 split once and it just wasn't worth it for us, so I couldn't imagine only staying 2 nights at each (or 1 and then 3). With that said, if a split is what you really want to do, I would go with option #3 where you have at least 2 nights at each resort.

I love split stays. We do a split stay on almost every trip.
But for a 4 night trip, I wouldn't do the split stay. But if you have your heart set on splitting, then I would go with 2 nights at each.

I think the 2, 2 split will work well and that's my vote. Getting the car is second place vote.

these are my thoughts exactly. i am not a fan of split stays in general though. you will have fun no matter what you decide. :)

I would never split, especially on a four night stay. You lose a whole day in the move. I had been warned but I thought we could do it with minimum lost time. I was wrong. Been there, done that. Never again.

Since all of your ADR's are in the MK area, I would either find a way to stay at the Poly the entire trip or get a cheaper room at CR or WL. It doesn't make sense to move to an Epcot resort if you don 't plan to take advantage of all the wonderful restaurants that are in walking distance.
