Hi Gang,
We have enough points left for a 5 night stay at the VWL or a 6 night stay at OKW in a studio. Which would you pick and why? We are leaning towards the extra night at Disney World.

For me, it would all depend on laundry. If you can make it without needing to do laundry -- or can live with using community laundry facilities outside the room (since the studio will not have laundry), go for the 6 nights in the studio.

I've never stayed at either (yet) and I'm guessing you meant studios at both resorts, but I would take the extra night!

If you will have a car, I'd go with OKW. If not, you may want to consider WLV, especially if MK will be your main destination. An alternative would be to rent the extra day at WL for cash for the weekend day(s).

I have never stayed at the WLV so my opinion may be tainted. I would take the extra night. OKW is a wonderful resort. Either way you will have a great vacation.

I have stayed at both resorts in 1bdrms - We own at them both also - And I find both beautifully themed and each has its selling points - okay all that said Iwould choose OKW for more time at WDW and the units are bigger - and I like that you can park right outside your unit. Although I have read many horror stories about the transportation from OKW - when we were there in July we personally had no problems at all. However I do LOVE the boat ride to MK from VWL.

This is a question that most of us implicitly face every time we make a ressie. For those whose DVC home is not OKW, we all have the option (subject to availability of course) of staying at OKW and stretching our points further.

We plan on staying at OKW at some point in the future, as we like to "sample" the various DVC resorts. But for us, we continue to have "shorter" stays in our home resorts of VWL and BWV because.....well, you know what they say.....we bought where we wanted to stay the most! :)

So for us, we would stay at OKW because we wanted to experience it.....not so much for a point stretching exercise.

I do love OKW but for me I'd definetly stay at OKW if I couldn't make up my mind which way to go, and get the extra night. Vacation always seems to go by so fast -- esp. at WDW and having the extra night adds extra time to a vacation that always takes so long to arrive and yet goes by so quickly.

I guess that's why they say time flies when we're having fun - LOL

For me it would depend on how many in the family. DH and I stayed in a OKW studio in November and were very comfortable. Now if the teenager (whoops, he turned 20 last week!) was along I would NEVER take a studio. We'd need the extra room in a 1 bdrm.

For me it would depend on the time of year. If there's a chance it could be cold out, I'd pick the WLV (you have the great lobby areas) and pay for the extra night with cash. If it's pretty much guaranteed hot weather, I'd go with Old Key West for the extra night for free.

How many points would you have to borrow to get the 1 BR @ OKW? (I agree that the washer/dryer is a key component.)

:jester:

If it was during Christmas season or colder weather months,I'd definitely stay at VWL. The decorations are great and the fireplaces are nice and cozy. Any other time of the year,I'd go for the extra day.

Boy, that question would take me a whole half-second to answer. OKW! OKW! OKW! We own at VWL, but were amazed that OKW is actually fewer points (after booking 4 nites at VWL at 11 months, we switched to 5 nites at OKW at the 7 month window, and couldn't believe that we were getting one point BACK). If the points were equal, it wouldn't be easy for me, but DH would still choose OKW.

;) The extra night @ OKW. Wouldn't you hate the day you were checking out of the vwl and thinking that you could have stayed an extra night.

I always wish I had more time EVERYTIME I go to WDW.

Here is another vote for OKW, but I am a little partial to that resort anyway.... ;)
