What Would You Do?

We plan on going to DCA on October 22, the purpose of this day is to ride RSR. This is all my 5yos wants to do. This moring its also EMH but we are staying offsite. I will be with my 5ds and 6dn.

My question is would you ride standby or get in line for FP? DCA opens at 10am this morning and I plan on being at the gates at 9am.

I am torn on what I should do. We will only be in the parks till about 3pm that day due to the next day being an extremely early and late day. PS at 7am and MHP that night.

Well, to get FP, you wait in one line, to later wait in another. Hopefully the two lines combined will be less than a standby line you might have gotten in at opening.

Or you just head straight over there (follow the wide right rule discussed on other threads) and get in the standby line.

I personally (and I might have a different opinion than many here) would head straight to THE line.

Oh gracious, that IS a long and busy day. :faint:

I would probably do the same as Bumbershoot recommends but it is such a bummer when the ride breaks down and you are in standby. One big advantage of FP is you can come back with your FP later if the ride breaks while you are in line the first time.

:wizard:

I would be worried about getting a FP good for later in the day than you plan to be there.

How will the kids that young do standing in a line that could potentially be 2 hours or more?

I have already planned ahead with that problem. :rotfl2: I have loaded the Ipods with their fav games and movies. And I will also be bringing the Nintendo DS with a bunch of games. I have already told my son to be prepared for a 2 hour line. Which he has no problem with because RSR is the only thing he wants to do this whole trip.

highly recommend FP unless you want to wait 60 mins +. get your FP as soon as you get into the park and you should have a return time for around 2pm

keep in mind FP line is still about 30 mins

Do you mean the FP return line or the line to get a FP? In my experience, neither of those takes 30 minutes.

The FP return line has improved greatly since it first opened and has pretty consistently been 10 minutes or so.

If you are at the gates of DCA early, you should have about a 15-20 minute wait to get RSR FPs.

Of course, things like breakdowns and other problems may change these estimates. But by and large, you shouldn't be waiting 30 minutes at either place.

For me, every time i wait in line (already have a FP) to get on the ride, it takes about 30 mins. I've been on 3 times and the most recent which was about 2 weeks ago it was 30 mins; however it was on a sunday. The 2 times before that there were maintenance problems so it took much longer.

I wish i could get through as fast as you do! You are lucky!

I've used FP probably 12-15 times since July. I have never waited longer than 10-12 mins. and usually its closer to walk up the FP line, turn left to the HA area, and maybe a 3 mins to get into a car. Our party usually splits up (my daughter and I go HA, the boys go to the right for regular cars), and we all arrive back about the same time. I will get FPs first, then head to standby.

I also have gotten in line for getting a FP at the Animation Building, and it took about 12-15 mins to get to the FP machines. The line is long, but moves very fast.
