What would you do?

I need to decide between two masters degree majors. Please help me by being my sounding board...

Print Journalism-
This is what i majored in college, I'm good at it (or i've been told by my professors) and I like doing it.

Screenwriting-
This is what i've always wanted to do....but I might not have a future in it because its a cut throat business, I've taken classes in it and think i'm good at it....

I don't know what to do!!!

Any chance of doing both? Do the Journalism one first, then the screenwriting one after?

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Journalism since you like it anyway and screenwriting is such a cutthroat business.

The best advice I can give you is to follow your heart. What do you really want? Will you regret NOT doing one if you decide on the other. Just don't let go of a dream that you will regret later in life.

If it were me, I'd pick Print Journalism. I think its a less limited career field.

But only you can make the decision, if you feel screenwriting is your calling, I say go for it.

I was also a journalism major, and I think I would go for the screenwriting major if I were you. You don't need a master's degree in journalism to work as a journalist (you do if you plan to teach someday, though) and the masters in screenwriting may open doors for you to doing something you love. You already have the undergrad journalism degree and that coupled with the screenwriting masters makes for a much more interesting resume for you, IMHO.
