This is in line with our thinking too. DH has never been and I haven't been since 1998 and I've never been during the holiday season. DH has the same worries..not big enough, not enough to do. I keep telling him it's Walt's park it's different, but I don't think he's buying into it. However, if do to his work schedule we go in Dec. we will only have 5-6 days. Also, there is the worry about being able to get VCG at the 7 month mark.

I voted for DLR. Everyone should have a trip to DLR. I have a die hard WDW friend who had her first trip in August for D23. She was blown away. Not only by DLR but California in general. 2011 was the first time since 1997 that I did not have a WDW trip, I had 2 trips to California, May @ VGC with points and August for D23 we stayed at DLH. Didn't really miss WDW.

Never been there in December - would really like to see the Christmas lights! Don't care if it is crowded but with a kid in school, its impossible.

Having done these two options(6 days in Oct not 9), I voted for the week in Dec. as long it is in the first two weeks. We have gone during this time several times now and love it...smjj

I picked the DLR trip, I just had so much fun on mine in September that I can not wait to go back.

Well, we've now narrowed it down to either WDW in Dec or Oct. Airfare to LA is ridiculous and we've decided not to give the airlines that kind of $$. DH found out at work that we can do a 9 day trip in both Oct and Dec so now we're debating between the two!

I definately vote for a longer stay in October. I would take a "solo" trip each October for the Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP. Well this year DH came along and it now looks like my "solo" trips have turned into a "duet". :rotfl: He loved the F&W and now understood why I took these October trips!

I'm sure whatever you decide to do you'll have fun!!:thumbsup2

I pick Disneyland/California Adventure.

As much as I love F&W, it sounds like you get there, and to WDW, often enough. For a "treat", I'd want something really different. And by then, I believe Cars Land will be opening at DCA! Just my humble opinion.

I suggest you stay at WDW, as DLR is likely going to be crazy stupid psychotic zanny at that time!! Carsland and Buena Vista street will open sometime this summer, and you will be hard pressed to get anywhere near it with all the locals visiting for these first few months. Especially since many California APs have blockout dates that stretch the summer. You could plan for a trip to California for the following year, just to put some space between you and the first year of a new attraction at the DLR.

Of course, Disneyland does some great things with a few of the rides for Christmas (HM, IASW, SM). I just don't want your DH to get freaked out on DLR and misinterpret the crowds as normal. If you are exploring this option, the zen masters on the DLR board would be able to give you a decent prediction for a specific time.

Good luck and have fun!

Oh, and keep in mind this year will mark the end of the world (real, not Disney), so I guess it depends on whether you'd prefer to take your trip earlier in the year or be at Disney when the Mayan calendar reaches 0. :lmao:

Us, we'll be checking out the day before things hit the fan (the 20th)! :thumbsup2

ETA: Boy, I'm just full of cheerful news, huh, what with the DLR prediction and the EotW (end of the world) :rotfl:

You'd be stupid not to do DL/DCA! If your DH thinks there won't be enough to do at DLR he has been misinformed. Consider that with the addition of Cars Land the ride count between WDW and DLR is nearly identical. Unless of course you count the bus ride between the parks and hotel, because DLR doesn't have those... VGC is at most 2000' to the entrance to DL and only 100' from it's own private entrance to DCA. Oh and the distance between the turnstiles at both parks 300' (the length of a football filed). If you prefer spending you time on busses riding to the parks and having only a handful of (inferior) attractions available once you get there then hey WDW is for you! :thumbsup2

It's been a couple years since I was there, and I know DCA has added quite a few attractions, but I find it hard to believe they have added enough for those two parks to hold as many as WDW's four parks. Just real estate size alone would tell you that would not be likely. No animal Kingdom type things there at all, and no water parks that I know of.

Had to vote for October. It's my favorite time to go because the weather is great and F&W is going on. It will also give you the longest trip. Good luck with your decision.

Update: After quite a bit of debate (ok....that's polite speak for argument) and after looking more closely at the calendar, a 10 day trip to SSR in Oct has been booked. We do love F&W and MNSSHP and REALLY enjoyed our 2010 Oct trip. DH did finally agree to go to DLR, however, after re-checking our calendar, we would be leaving the day before the first anniversary of my grandmother's trip to heaven and I know that there will be church services and I would feel really bad being on vacation and not home with my family. However, our plan for next year is a trip in June with our friends and then (if we get some Pixie dust and Walt smiles on us) if we're able to get a ressie at VGC we will be going to DLR next Dec. Now....back to convinving DH that we need more points.....addonitis.....it's a terrible disease!:scared1:
