Here's our dilemma and we're looking for other's opinions....my "treat" for being a "good girl":rolleyes1 and spending 11 (yes that's eleven) days at WDW this summer with DH's family is a "big" trip later in the year. Our options are WDW for a week in Dec (last Dec trip 08) 9 days in Oct for F&W and MNSSHP (last Oct trip 10) January '13 member cruise or 5-6 days in DLR/DCA (DH has never been and last time I was at DLR was when DCA was under construction)
Any suggestions???

If you've never been on the Disney Dream, do it. I hear they have all sorts of great gifts for you on the Member Cruises. We're going to do one in the next few years, cash of course, since the points are ridiculous.

I voted for the longer October trip. I really enjoy F&W and MNSSHP, and the weather is nicer than December.

I really enjoy swimming/relaxing by pool time, and I've done very little between my December trip and so far this January. I wouldn't do a January cruise to the Bahamas, the average temps there is 70, or a bit higher, and that's too cold for me to enjoy the water.

I love WDW in October, except for the F&W crowds.;) Great weather and all the extra fun stuff. Plus it's nine days!

I voted for October. More days at Disney at a beautiful time of year.

I voted for the F&W trip, just make sure to go to the Festival during the week. It gets jammed with locals on the weekend evenings. But October is a wonderful time at the World. In fact, October 2012 will be our third straight October at WDW. Great weather, manageable crowds. And F&W is the icing on the cake!

Food & Wine Festival makes for a very nice adults only trip. Enjoy, whatever you decide! :goodvibes

I voted October for all the aforementioned reasons.

I voted for DLR/DCA for something DIFFERENT! It just gives you a new, fresh Disney experience. We love the VGC, and it'll be a nice treat for you. Of course, if you opt for WDW, I would go in October for all the reasons mentioned above.

Thanks for all of the comments. We have elminated January member cruise thus far and due to DH's work restrictions it's either going to be Oct to WDW or DLR/DCA in January depending on when he can take time off. We went in Oct 2010 and we LOVED Oct.

I voted longer trip. We did 9 nights at WDW last October and it was nice. We're there mid month and the weather was great.

However for 2012 we've moved it to mid November so we can do MVMCP instead of MNSSHP. We might miss food and wine but we'll see the Osborne lights and Christmas decor instead.

I'd say if you are in the mood for Christmas do that, if you want a warmer vacation go in October.

I voted for DLR. We absolutely love WDW and F&W. We always have a wonderful time at WDW.

If you have never been at DL, it is such a neat place. It is neat to ride Matterhorn and IASW is so much better at DL. Staying on property and walking everywhere is wonderful. Disneyland is truly Walt's park.

I voted for Oct F&W and here is why:
1- 9 days baby
2- Lots of eatin' and drinkin'
3- we just did Xmas at WDW and it wasn't all that it's cracked up to be
4- MIL and FIL went on 7 day DCL Magic cruise with us in 2007...was the best vacation ever (MIL and FIL loved it too)...MIL and FIL just went on DCL Dream with 8 other family members and they all hated it (ship is too big...too many people...not enough public space...cut backs since 2007...missed Castaway Cay, which I think happens more with the Dream because it's so big). I'd recommend the Magic or Wonder...though DCL is too overpriced IMO...but if you don't mind that, it's worth it.
5- California doesn't interest me...too far for us and WDL just isn't like WDW (from what I gather).

Such a tough call, but in the end I choose the October trip.

My second choice would have been the December trip.

If you were going to do a Disney Cruise, other then the Members Cruise, i might have chosen that over October.

3- we just did Xmas at WDW and it wasn't all that it's cracked up to be...was nice and we were lucky to have wonderful weather and we got there on Dec 20 when the crowds weren't so bad...but it didn't WOW me...was nice to do once.

Can be best weather for the end of the summer in Florida. We like to stay at either the Fort or BW with a BWview.

I agree with this statement. Plus, CarsLand and the new DCA will be in full swing by then, so well worth the trip.

This is in line with our thinking too. DH has never been and I haven't been since 1998 and I've never been during the holiday season. DH has the same worries..not big enough, not enough to do. I keep telling him it's Walt's park it's different, but I don't think he's buying into it. However, if do to his work schedule we go in Dec. we will only have 5-6 days. Also, there is the worry about being able to get VCG at the 7 month mark.

I vote DLR/DCA. Carsland will be open, new restaurants at DLR, refurbished Matterhorn, IASW Christmas, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Plus World of Color!!

It will be so fun!!
