What would you do?

Ok - on August 14th, I placed an order with Disneystore.com. On the 25th, I still hadn't received the package, and UPS wasn't recognizing the shipper number. I sent an email to Disney to confirm the item had indeed been shipped and they informed me it went through UPS -- but then it was transferred to US Postal Service (some new option at UPS?) and they gave me a new tracking number. Which still didn't work. Two days later, I checked in with Disney, who informed me the package was delivered on the 19th (!!!) and that I should double check to make sure the item wasn't received. Um, yeah, that's why I'm writing you guys! Anyways, this past Friday, they agreed the package was lost and would be sending me another one. "It'll take 5 - 7 days to get to you." I asked if they could do something better than that to make up for all the confusion, so she offered to send it 3 day shipping.

Anyways - long story short - I received the first package LAST NIGHT!! And UPS tracking shows that the 2nd package is out for delivery this afternoon.

So, the question at hand - would you let Disney know that the "lost" package was found. . . albeit really late. . . and offer to return it? It's only a t-shirt . . .

My sister had the same problem with a Disney movie lost in the mail for over a month. They sent her another one and within a few days the original one was delivered as well. She called and was told to just keep them both. Probably the cost of shipping and returning wasn't worth the price of the movie.

I'm sure they don't care-- they probably have some sort of insurance so they're not losing money on lost packages-- but you can call and ask.

It's not really a new thing, it's been a few years, but yes, there's a hybrid USPS/DHL and USPS/UPS shipping method around.

Here's the thing...Delivery Confirmation *can* rightfully show "delivered" when it's delivered to the local post office. Actual delivery can be DAYS later. I only know this b/c I worked at amazon and made shipping-understanding my LIFE (their relationship with UPS and UPS's getting better started with me, IMO, after I showed a huge stack of funky tracking info, with comments by normal UPS reps and comments by amazon's UPS special reps, and what really happened, to my lead and my lead called a bigwig meeting). Just like UPS doesn't tell normal folk that their service is to get packages from point A to point B and ANY tracking in between is gravy, USPS doesn't tell you that Delivery Confirmation doesn't require it to be fully delivered in order to have it SHOW as delivered.

Anyway, that's likely what happened with you.

I personally would let them know, but my experience with disneyshopping reps has NOT been the best. They seem to have a serious disconnect. Took them a MONTH to get a UPS guy out to pick up a huge box that they had delivered to me in error, and they were never concerned with the person whose package it was (said that they'd replace it if/when THAT customer contacted them!). They got me our stuff fast, which was amazing considered experience just a month or so before with them, but I had that huge box taking up space in my apartment for ages (and no, they would not send me a label so I could just take it to UPS...I would have had to pay to ship it back then they might have reimbursed me). The previous experience was their continued error...I went through the mental pain of measuring myself for a bathing suit, ordered the correct size by their charts...the suit they sent was enormous on me. I told them of their sizing chart error, they CHARGED me to send a smaller size, I had to PAY to send back the first suit, and then they refunded me for the first suit when they got it back. And that second suit? Still was too big. So their sizing charts were TWO sizes off, but I was out the shipping costs...I opted to keep the suit and just walk carefully, LOL.

Anyway, I share that to let you know that they don't really take responsibility for their errors, and since they didn't know to have you check with your local PO/carrier for the "delivered" package, they might not know what to do with this second shipment that was sent to you...
