Bought into BCV this year, got a 7 day comp stay. Here's my dilemma...before I even thought about BCV, I had (and still do) ressies for 2 rooms at the Polynesian for 7 nights each this earlyDecember. We are traveling with the in-laws for their first trip to WDW. So I am definitely using my comp stay for one of the rooms. Since I probably won't be able to make it to BCV before our use year runs out next March, I thought I'd use our points for the other room. The kicker is that I would have to borrow about 50 points from 2003 use year to cover all 7 nights of the other room. With the points I have, I can cover 5 of the 7 nights and have about 15 or so left over which I can bank for next year, but then I'd have to pay cash for 2 nights. Now, next year, we are planning a trip in November for my DD birthday, and having our full complement of points would be beneficial. Plus, I'd hate to be borrowing year after year to make things happen.

Bottom line is what would you do if you were me? Would you borrow 2003 points to make it happen and then have less points in 2003? Or would you just pay for the 2 nights at the Polynesian and have your full complement of points for 2003?

Thanks for your opinions.

Pay for the Polyn - sounds as if you are going to need your points for November birthday.

I would pay cash for the last two days.... and save the points. OR rent 50 points from a fellow DVCer to complete your ressie.... Often that can be done for less than the room rate. Good luck and let us know what you deside!:bounce:

I would either pay the cash or rent an extra 50 points. We are usually in a state of banking. I hate to borrow points!

Pay for the two nights, your already saving money with the comps., and since you were planning on going and paying your really saving money this time. See how quickly DVC saves you money!!!LOL. Bank the extra 15 points and then you will have enough points to not cut any corners next year. I agree that if you get into a constant state of borrowing, you really have to exercise restraint not to stay there (ie give up a vacation).
Whatever you decide have a great vacation.:)

I'd pay cash now and save the points for next year, too. (I'm sure that you already plan to pay cash for the weekend nights if that's the way you decide to go, right?? LOL! Maybe you'll find a discount, too).

Using DVC points at a DVC resort is a better value than at the non-DVC options. (I'm not saying that using them to stay at the Poly is wrong or dumb, just that $$wise, you get more if you use them for DVC accomodations). My guess is that if you don't have enough points for next year's trip, you'll end up paying cash then, anyway. We "conservative Minnesotans" hate to be in a state of borrowing - it feels unnatural! LOL!

Try not to second guess yourself after you do decide. Whatever you decide, you will have a wonderful time.

Here is what I'd do. Rent your 2002 BCV points to someone else. Use the cash you get from that rental to pay for the entire 7 nights at the Poly for the second room. You would have to work a little to rent the points, but you may even end up with some cash left over.
