We are thinking of heading to BCV for X-mas vacation. I just checked at BCV and VWL and there are dates available. (BCV is booked for New Years). Anyway....I do not have enough points and would have to have some points transferred.

I really would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday at home and just really enjoy my family over the holidays.

We usually travel at the end of February or March and I have a February use year.

Would you just get the transfer and go or wait for the February 09 use year and go in the Spring?

I am now in a borrowing mode so I am either going to have to miss a trip, add on or take a transfer.

We do enjoy the weather in February and March. Is it usually warm in December during the Christmas season.

Also- my girls will be 4 and 8. Is this too young to take them during such a busy time?

Thanks...I am driving myself crazy over this decision!!:headache:

One more thing to add...it is my 10 year wedding anniversary on December 19th...so it would make this trip extra special!!

I cannot think of a better place to spend your 10th Anniversary than at the place you love to vacation at with the ones you love:lovestruc So, I would seriously think about borrowing for the December vacation, doing the transfer, or adding on, whichever you think fits better with your financial situation.

Your children will love the sights and sounds of the Osborne lights and seeing Mickey's place decked out for the holidays.

The weather is iffy, but we've usually had some swim time in December, but I never felt it was warm enough to spend a day at a Water Park.

We are the DGP's and after seeing the Castle all decked out for the Holidays last December, we immediately called our family and asked if they would consider another '08 vacation, this one in November when they can experience some of the holiday festivities. They said YES! Now, it's not Christmas, so you're going to be in for a harder time with crowds, but people here have ways to enjoy their trips and will share their tips with you.

Plus, you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life, so my vote is, DO IT!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Have you considered going just a little before Christmas? Less points & smaller crowds :goodvibes We love going the week before Christmas, enjoying all the holiday festivities and then leaving as the crowds arrive :thumbsup2 Plus you could be there for your actual anniversary, and have a magical time :wizard:

Forgot to answer your weather ?: We just went Dec 15-22, it was 80+ the day we arrived, 2 days later the low was 33 and highs in the low 50's, by the end of the week it was warm enough for shorts again.

I agree with the other poster that if you could go the week before Christmas or get there to enjoy some of the festivities before the big crowds arrive. I guess it depends on what days your dd has off. You get a mixed bag on here about going the week between Christmas and New Year's. I guess we all just have to try it to really find out for ourselves. It is beautifully decorated during the holidays that is for sure. If you could arrive several days/to a week before the 25th then you could get a lot done in the parks and then slow down as it gets crowded and just enjoy being in that wonderful holiday atmosphere and do non park things. I think going as a DVC member gives a whole new meaning to going during busier times. We all love our resorts so we have nice play to retreat too. Good Luck.

Well...I guess I am heading over to the rent/transfer board. I was hoping not to have to do this again. I rented before I bought DVC...and I was hooked!

Since you were thinking of waiting and doing a spring trip after your points come in Feb why not borrow from your 09 pts? Or were you then going to borrow 2010 pts for spring 09?

I borrowed the 09 so my friend could go on a trip with us. I am not at all regretting it. She would have never been able to otherwise!

****word of caution.....

We just spent Dec. 20-26 in WDW...stayed at AKV & LOVED it.
This was our 1st Christmas in WDW.

What first made me want to plan a X-mas trip was that I was tired of hosting the annual family X-mas with ALL the relatives at my house. It was always a big production with a LOT of planning/cleaning/shopping etc.

Christmas 2006 I thought..."next year, we're spending it in WDW" & I told all the relatives that so they'd have plenty of warning.

Well...fast forward to DEC. 2007...it turns out that planning a X-mas in WDW is also STRESSFUL :headache: ...the shopping, packing, making ADRS (and second, third, & fourth guessing them), hiding the gifts from the kids, planning on the room decorations (I got Feralpeg to help with that), the packing, the packing...oh, did I mention the PACKING? I also added even more stress because I always have the family wear matching Disney shirts & this time I needed HOLIDAY sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.

Anyway....it is stressful.
But, I still loved it & plan to do it again someday. :goodvibes
