What would you do?

I don't think when checking out we need to completely clean the room, I think tidy up,however, you should get rid of all your belongings, especially your clothes.

When we go, on the day we leave, if we have any unopened food and don't want to waste it, we usually put it in a bag and give it to housekeeping or someone else on staff. I am sure they could use it in the break room or something.

We always do the dishes and put them all away and any other food we make sure we put in the trash and take the trash out.

I think leaving the room as close too what you got it in is fair without having to vacuum and mop floors.

I usually bring with me or buy when i get there clorox wipes and just go over everything when I get into the room. This way I have the satisfaction of it being clean just in case it was not done before I got there.

Over the years as a DVC member, I must say I have not had a problem with housekeeping.

If I ever found a problem upon entering my room, I would call to have it rectified and let the head of housekeeping know about the problem, not just calling the front desk. Each dept. has a manager so I would bring it to their attention as well.

19 days til we leave for Disney, cant wait.

We once checked in and found ice cream bars in the freezer. About an hour after arriving the maid knocked on the door and asked for her ice cream which she said she left behind. It was kind of amusing.
We usually leave unopened food in the fridge for the maid, which they seem to appreciate. I also tidy up before I leave, I am in the hotel business and I know what a tough job maids have so I like to help them out where I can.

I know some places do not allow the staff to keep anything left in the room...even if you give it to them. I have tried before to give bottles of water or soft drinks and unopened boxes of various items. I am almost always told, they are not allowed to accept them.

I once woke up and heard someone in the bathroom. I went to see who it was and it was the maid USING MY TOILET!!!!! She had the nerve to yell at me for disturbing HER!!! I didn't find that very amusing.
