I'm also afraid to fly. I've flown once to WDW and that's it. I know that DH is planning a 'surprise' trip for our anniversary, and I also know that we will be flying, and I am worried about it.
I'm not the type of person who would travel on the train by myself. But, I think if your DW wants to do it, that might be the way to go. As long as she wants to, and you don't mind, I see nothing wrong with it.
