DH has a job interview in the middle of our vacation, and I am not going with him. He will be gone a substantial amount of time. My dilemma is do I go to a park alone, or stay at the WL and chill? If I go to a park, which one is best as a single?

My other thought is I can go to Universal for the day.

What would you do?

I would probably just chill at the resort. However, I am a "needs company in the parks" type person.

Hello Ihearttink, That is a little bit of a bummer during your vacation. I would most likely enjoy some pool time at WL or go shopping becuase most Dh's hate shopping anyway. Personally I would'nt want to go to a park. Dowhatever you feel comfortable with. WL is and awesome resort, we usually stay there too. Have a great trip.

Personally, I'd go to Epcot. But I suppose it would depend if we had enough days on our tickets, or if that meant the two of us would have one less day in the parks. DH likes Epcot, but doesn't really like poking through all of the shops and exhibits, so I could spend a day doing that without boring him to tears.

I once went to DTD to shop (alone) while DH lay in bed suffering from heat stroke.

At least I got a good look around the shops and he was asleep when I returned so he wasn't quite sure exactly how much extra "stuff" I had bought and would need to be squeezed into our cases for coming home! :rotfl2:

I think Epcot is the best choice too for a single who is not really used to being a single. I was going to vote for chill at the pool -- another good idea -- but there are all those nice places at Epcot to shop :teeth: plus if you decide to take in a ride or two, some at Epcot are more single friendly and not scarey (Honey I shrunk the Kids, Energy thing, the ride in Mexico).

I am rather shy about doing things like Parks (even dining out!) by myself (I'd never be the brave SOLO vacation person!) ... so do what makes you comfortable. I, personally, would not do DTD -- it was a little overwhelming to me -- but Epcot -- A BREEZE ... and everyone will just think your husband is somewhere holding your purchases!!!

I say it depends on what tickets you have, and how long your vacation is.
If you are having a shorter trip, then I would go into a park by myself, or as suggested, shop and do what pleases you.
If it is a week long vacation, just chill out at the resort and maybe have dinner together later and do whatever that evening.
If it is a long vacation you will feel better resting or taking a relaxed pace for a day. Esp if it is during a FL summer.

How about partaking in afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian! :Pinkbounc
Or spend part of the day at a spa in a resort. :woohoo:

I've stayed at the WL 2 times and it is an amazing place but there is only so much you can do there. I am younger so I'd watch Disney Channel because I don't get that channel.

I'd take the boat to the Contemporary and chill there and than look around and than go to other hotels on the monorail.

I would just love to stay at WL and relax, read a book by the pool and sip on a yummy drink! :sunny:

I love going to WDW solo, so I voted for Epcot. But, DTD is another great choice, especially depending on how many days you have on your ticket, and how your DH feels about shopping. If he's anything like my DBF, he'd probably prefer to skip DTD.

I think spending a leisurely day at Epcot would be great. Just taking your time to wander through the World Showcase and see all the little things that many people pass by in the rush would be great.

Of course, a nice day by the pool really sounds good to! What ever your decision, I hope you have fun!

Is there so attraction/attractions that you like better than your husband does? Or even an entire park or DTD? I would use your solo day to do things that your husband doesn't like or has no interest in. We had the same thing happen in the middle of one of our trips, so while DH was gone, I went to MGM and spent most of the day doing TOT and WWTBAM (DH won't do TOT and while he likes WWTBAM, he doesn't LOVE it like I do - I actually once spent a day doing nothing but WWTBAM).

Maybe you like to shop, but he doesn't - how about DTD? Or have you always wanted to try a spa treatment? Or maybe you have always wanted to spend a day at the pool.

Look at this as a chance to try something new or re-visit something that you really like. Have fun!

I've been to all the parks alone, loved them all. I voted for MK, but that depends on what your DH is like. In our case, I love to go on the rides in Fantasyland-Dumbo, Cinderella's Golden Carousel (except those horses are really high to drag myself up on! Hence my tag), IASW, and Goofy's Barnstormer. DH would really rather not do those. That' why I like to go to MK solo-it's my chance to do those rides! Otherwise, Epcot is a great park to shop in, wander around-I love to sit outside at Fountainview Bakery and watch the fountain. So either MK or Epcot.

It sounds like a great day to hang by the pool, go to the spa and get all dressed up and go out and celebrate with dinner when he gets back. :thumbsup2

IHEARTTINK - read the thread about the spa's. The GF I understand has a wonderful spa package. What it would be like to be a pampered princess?

I think I would either go to MK and people watch or go to downtown and do some shopping!!

You don't say when your vacation is but if there is anything special going on (ie: Flower and Garden or holiday decorations) it might be a ncie chance to take in some of that. I like the idea of a tour of the monorail resorts also. That would eat up some time and you could check out the shops and perhaps grab some lunch.

Wow I'm suprised how many people said you should chill at a resort. As someone who travels to WDW solo and with others I find traveling solo is a blast. I voted for Animal Kingdom because there is so much to see and do there. You can walk all the different trails, hit the attractions, see lots of shows, and take in the beautiful theming it offers. But, any of the parks are great...don't let being alone scare you away because you will look at the parks a totally different way!

I'd go with Downtown Disney (shopping alone is a good thing in my opinion!). Or, if I went to a park alone, I'd pick AK or Epcot. I like places to wander around by myself (the animal trails or world showcase) rather than waiting in line and riding rides by myself. Of course, relaxing by the pool would be fine, too. Enjoy!
