Ok-I have planned our entire trip (May 27-june 4). Today I decided to give a new tour guide a try and his advice completly throws my trip off! I have us going to the parks on some EMH and he says "stay away." I obviously can't go into details about his advice but I can ask what some of you have done or would do?

I understand why he suggest some things but do you think it is worth it to completly start over with restaurants and scheduled breaks and all that? He says NO NO NO to Magic Kingdom on 2 mornings we were planning to go! (sigh).

DH feels I have already spent too much time planning our days and he is ready for me to move on!

I wish I had found his site before I did all my planning because I think it is great!

Any advice?

I am spending lots of money on this trip and feel nervous about going when we are but that is really the only time we can go!

Thanks!

Hey, you PAID the guy.

Don't you believe him?

The advice we post HERE is FREE
(and probably worth every penny!)

Never had a use for those guides, don't believe them. We've been going down since 1977, over 33 trips and the only guide I ever used long ago was Birdbaums. Minute to minute trips aren't alot of fun, there's too much to see and going on around you to adhere to a strict schedule. Basically, we pick parks for certain days, we hop, never in the same park twice in one day. If we pick EMH and we see its going to be crowded, we hop to another and switch that one for later in the week. We know where were eating for the whole trip and just schedule parks close to that eatery for the day to avoid traveling back and forth. It's like a quick skim of a day, nothing etched in bronze, we go with the flow, if something comes up we see and like, we do it and start again the next day. There's too much stuff to see and do while at Disney and a commando trip is hard on everybody. Some sort of plan is great, you'll see everything but going by someone elses guide, I don't like doing what others have done. Maybe just for an idea is okay but Disney changes day to day.

We go to EMH's both morning and evenings when we feel like it. We go to the MK when ever we want too. There will always be people and crowds but its a flow, go with it. Pace yourself, check it out and stay or go. My only problem with going is if you don't have a hopper pass, then you're committed to that park, crowd or no crowd. Most of the time we go, catch a few attractions, do some shopping but we head to the rear of the park and work forward and when we usually catch up with the mass, we're ready for the resort. It's a long day with EMH's.

I can't speak to the rest of the Tour Guide's advice, but MK on extra magic hour *mornings* are great, IF YOU GET THERE BEFORE THE PARK OPENS and then go somewhere else by noon that day.

I would imagine on Extra Magic Hour evening days, if you get there before the park opens, and again, leave by noon that day, you'd be o.k., too.

Honestly, I've found that the only way to do Fantasyland without silly waits or having to use Fastpass is to get there right at EMH park opening, and do things in this order:

Dumbo
Pooh
Peter Pan
Carousel
Small World
Snow White
Philharmagic

You can knock it all out in two hours and then walk out as the crowds start to pour in.

I look at this 2 ways:
One-- I have gone to amusement parks for many, many years (with my kids) all over the US and have never had a plan. We survived just fine and had a great time no matter how big the crowds or how long the lines. We did not know we were suppose to 'have a plan' and we had a blast.
Two-This time I am looking at different guides (TGM being one) and I will take helpful hints from all. But if I miss a 'good time' or 'good day' I know we will survive just fine. I enjoy the guidebooks and the forums, but I also recognize everyone has different opinions. If it works great, if not you will still have a blast. Don't sweat it.

Best thing to do is go for the EMH and then take off before noon. Most families will not get up that early when they are on vacation.

The other alternative is to get a VERY early breakfast time and be done before park opening. That gives you an advantage over everyone else when the rope drops.

Thanks everyone! I looked back over my plans and decided my plans were not the best! sigh!

i will go with some of his suggestions and keep the ones I think will work out ok!

good thing I discovered all this 3 months in advance.

Back to the drawing board!
