A bit of background: At the weekends, I am the matchday sports therapist for a local girls football team's centre of excellence on Saturdays. The Centre of Excellence is inconjunction with a fairly big professional league club. They play 3 teams. I oversee any injuries the teams can't deal with. I get paid for the work I do, a couple of times I have had problems with not being paid on the day but this was resolved quickly and the money was sent to me.

I was at the Saturday just gone match, where it was gale force winds & pouring hard rain. I was soaked through by the end of the match. No one paid me. The next match isn't till next year, so I contacted the guy who set me up with this work to see if he will sort it. He no longer works for the club & I need to see someone else. I finally managed to track down an email for the Centre of Excellence to request being paid.

The response I got was they will sort but in the response they all but accused me of not being there which is why I wasn't paid on the day. In future I need to speak to the coaches so they know i'm there. I did speak to the coach to check on a the GK who got kicked in the head.

I have never been introduced to anyone involved with the teams, its only by deduction I have worked out who one of the coaches is.

I'm angry with the way I have been treated & I can't see why I should have to chase what I have earned. I enjoy the work, it is what I trained for and work in this area is hard to come by but i'm not sure its worth the hassle.

IMO this is part and parcel of working for yourself :sad2: its a bit of a trade-off between what you would love to do ( tell them what to do with the job) and what we invariably do ( put up with it because it pays!)

good luck x x

It would be sad to give up something you enjoy. So in future, make sure you introduce yourself to the relevant people so they are aware that you are there (it sounds to me like they are trying to pull a fast one)

:wizard: I hope you manage to get your wages very soon :wizard:

Perhaps you could make up some kind of form and have the coach sign it each Saturday so you've always got proof you were there.

no good me offering advice today the brian is not in gear so not working well.
Good luck with what ever you decide on so will send you pixie dust instead.

Thanks for all your responses. I could get the coach to sign a form to so I have proof, but I usually have to sign for the money which I don't have a problem with.

I think the problems/difficulties have occured since the guy I usually deal with has left the club as it was always him that gave me the money. I wasn't aware he left until I contacted him about being paid.

I have over a month until the next home game to decide so I don't need to rush my decision & hopefully I will get my owed money by the end of the week.

Hope you get it all sorted out Nikki.

I hope you do get it sorted, didn't you have some similar problems before? It would be sad for you to give up something you obviously enjoy so much pixiedust:

I did but with the Ladies team took ages to reimburse me for supplies. Things have got way better with the new manager! I now do the girls teams on Saturdays and they pay me ( or supposed to;) )

Thanks for the good wishes everyone:)

Hope you get things sorted out quickly Nikki:hug:

I do hope you get this sorted out quickly, Nikki :wizard: It's such a shame when you have to fight for what you're owed and it's very tiring too.
