What would you do? Upcoming cash reservation.

Hi All - I am still in ROFR on my SSR contract. I have a long-ago planned trip coming up in March (25-31). I currently have a cash reservation at CBR with free dining.

In my fantasy world, I would have made it quickly through ROFR and be ready to use my points before I had to pay the balance on my cash reservation (about 10 days from now). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will happen. I think I am at day 26 or so, so should clear any day now. That still leaves me with 1-2 weeks for estoppel and another 1-2 weeks for contract to clear and then waiting until the points are available...

So, what would you do if you were me? I am leaning towards sticking with my cash reservation and renting out my 2010 SSR points that expire this December either through the disboards or using David. It's killing me because I really was looking forward to my first DVC stay. Either way, I will be at Disney world

I'd do the cash reservation, upgrade my tickets to APs (maybe you'll be in the system and have a member card so you can get the DVC AP?), and plan another trip down to use those points.

You could book a room only cash reservation (which would mean losing free dining), so that you could cancel up to 5 days before check in and not lose your deposit. That way, at least you would have something as a backup in case there isn't any DVC inventory available when your points are posted to your account.

As of right now, SSR is available for your dates. A studio will run you 100 points. But, that could change in the next 5 minutes so take with the proverbial grain of salt. Good luck!

Good for you mouse fan, I was also checking for her...there is current a 1 bedroom available too, but I didn't respond as I figured it could change before the points became available. I would keep the free dining...last time they'll get that offer...but they can turn their passes into annual if they'll have another trip before the 365 days... Good luck, it's hard waiting for ROFR...we had a OKW when they seemed to be buying those up.

Zeferjen- we are neighbors! Thanks for your advice on the my thread. Personally, I think I would rent the points and just keep the existing reservation & get free dining. I know a lot of families go more than once a year, but we just prefer to try something else if given the budget & time.
