what would you do? Ticket upgrades ques??

We are going to WDW week of April 8th. We are really going to look at houses to move to (in Jacksonville and Orlando but mostly Jax). But for the kids (and us, LOL) we plan to spend 5 days at the parks. We will be moving to Florida in July and will be getting AP. I'm not sure If I should get a 5 day pass or maybe get a AP (non-res) then maybe transfer to Resident AP (can I do that?). Or do I just spend the money on 5 day or may a 10 day and skip annual pass this year.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I think if you buy a 5 day pass with no expiration you can transfer to an ap or a florida resident seasonal ap ( with black out dates) and just pay the additonal cost to upgrade. You can not downgrade your ap for example swicthing to a florida res ap from a regualr ap. The seasonal florida resident ap is a little over $200.00 for an adult and is blacked out over the summer , spring break ,and christmas break. We live in Fla and we buy seasonal passes every year. If you want to go during the summer and other black out dates I would just buy ap now so that you can get a discount on your hotel room if you stay onsite. You will also be eligible for the DDE card.
