I can book the Contemporary for about 200 less than the Poly for our Nov trip. We have stayed at the Poly and loved it. Well, DD loved it. She LOVES the monorail and we like MK the best. What are the beds like at the Contemporary? This would be garden view....would it be easy to access the water parade, etc? Also, is the monorail the transportation to the GF if we had ADRs there? Please help me decide!! We are booked at the WL now and I just dont think we will be happy.

My kids dont know they are going to Disney. I showed them pics of both resorts and my kids ALL (all 4!) picked Poly over CR. Of course, I couldnt show them pics of the monorail going through CR though then they would figure it out. To me, I am getting my resort choice when hubby and I take our vacation trip to WL so this trip in December is ALL about the kids. My kids are 10, 8, 6 and 3 and I think the pool was what won them over!

I think what is best here is what you want, rather than me telling you what I would pick. I think what is missing and preventing you from making a decision is a criteria describing-translating your expectation and requirements of a resort.

Critieria could outline resort theme, room cost, room availability, is new resort experience important?, transportation options, travel times, access to restaurants, resort services, resort restaurants, rehab or construction activities underway, water pageant show time (CR is much later than PR), ability to walk to park or another resort, pools, etc...

Once you have a criteria you can evaluate which one appears to come closest to meeting your vacation requirements-expectations.

GF, PR, CR are all on the same monorail loop, so you have any of the restaurants at any of these resort "right outside your door."

Both Resorts are amaizing so you can't go wrong with either one. I would always recommend the Contemporary to anyone since it's my favorite Resort, however my family and I are staying at the Polynesian for the 1st time this December and are looking forward to it.

As for the renovation going on right now at the Contemporary, it's not as bad as other might think it is. When you compare it to what's going on right now at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, no guests with upcoming reservations at the Contemporary were told they had to move or asked if they wanted to be moved to another Resort because of the renovation. So let's all try to remember that when making judgements about the renovation.

I would say try the Contemporary! You can't go wrong with either, but the CR has just had a total redo of its rooms (as has the Poly) and if you love MK, where better to stay than the one resort from which you can walk to and from the MK?!
You imply that your daughter loved the Poly more than you did - if so, give the CR a try. I want to myself but it's not available for any of my dates...
Good luck!

I like the Poly the best and my husband likes the CR the best. They are both great resorts. We compromised and are splitting between the two during the last eight days of our trip. Since they are so close you might want to do something like that.

I stayed at the CR last Dec and really enjoyed it. The new rooms are nice and the beds are as nice as the Poly but I just LOVE the Poly. The Poly rooms are more guest friendly if you like to unpack. The CR rooms have very little storage space. I also like that at the Poly you can walk to the TTC to catch the direct monorail to Epcot. You can either monorail the one stop to GF from Poly or it is a really nice walk.

Personally, Poly over CR any day of the week. However, what really surprised me is that you said you don't think you would be happy at WL. That is my absolute FAV resort!!! The theming is fantastic, and MK is only a boat ride away.

having stayed there over the Christmas Holidays (our other family members chose the Poly) it was FANTASTIC.. the beds are pillowtop and very comfy.. we actually had more"space" in our room than the cousins did at the Poly.. go figure.. I thought they were close in size.....we had a computer in our room ( a big plus for DH) We used both the boat and the monorail...The cousins tried to switch over to the C.. I :lmao: at them.. at Christmas time.. it wasn't going to happen..

We usually stay at fort wilderness and camp in our travel trailer, so this was a really big step for us. Dh has always said if we ever go all it out again.. it will be at the Contemporary:cloud9: still hoping for the DVC :wizard:

tho we liked the choices at the food court at the Poly... dolewhip:love: gotta love the dining plan.. yup paid for it.. was well worth it. Like I said we went all out on this trip..

The beds at the CR are the most comfy that I have ever slept in at a hotel...anywhere. I usually don't sleep well in hotels, but we all slept great.

Also, you just can't beat the walk to and from the MK. Especially at the end of the night when throngs of people are waiting for monorails, boats and busses!

Either resort will be wonderful.

The Contemporary and Polynesian both have the new Sealy Pillowtop matresses.
