My DS (7th grade) brought home 10 true/false questions for me to answer for his Social Studies class.

Some of these questions are personal, political belief questions, some are opinion type questions that really are not black and white and some are just silly myths about the US.

The problem here is made more complicated because this teacher is a young man I used to babysit, he's my next door neighbor and his mother (whom he lives with...he is physically disabled) is the mayor of my tiny community.

To me, these questions seem to be him trying to find out what the political beliefs are of the parents of his students for whatever agenda he may have. Call me a cynic.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to answer them with the explanation that they are personal in nature.

What would you do?

Oh and to add, the curriculum for 7th grade SS in this school is supposed to ancient foreign cultures.

I think you've answered your own question.

Is your DS being graded on this assignment? If so, it shouldn't matter how you answer -- just that you saw it and answered at all.

I'm not sure what you mean by agenda. I guess I would have to see the questions to fully understand.

Regardless however, you certainly shouldn't answer any question that you feel is too personal. Your plan sounds like a good one. :)

Wow interesting I didn't see this, read the thread I just posted above about the same type questions.
