What would you do? Last minute cruise

It's interesting to see a lot of people suggesting RCCL due to the price difference. Isn't Disney almost always double the price of everyone else?

Yes for a reason. Its leaps and bond above RCCL. Especially with young kids. You get what you pay for.

With a 4 and 7 year old, I would definitely choose DCL. No contest. The characters, the kid-friendly shows & dining, the clubs. DCL wins with younger kids. Try RCCL when they're tweens or teens. Also, 5-night is more immersive than 4-night, more of a real vacation, and in this case, DCL's ports are better.

You're more likely to get struck by lightning than get Coronavirus right now, so don't worry about that.

My husband and I did a 4 day Dream Cruise without the kids. It was nice, but not the same without them. Next we did a 7 night Norwegian Cruise in a suite without the kids. Norwegian is not the right cruise line for us. I think our next kid free cruise may be on Celebrity or one of the other upscale cruise lines.

We love Disney when we are with our kids, but the itineraries are repetitive and I’d like to be away from other people’s small children when ours are not with us.
Our kids are over18 let’s say so different family unit ,looking at all the knowledge gained from you frequent cruisers thanks

The thing is, if this were an Oasis/Quantum/Freedom class ship with all the kids amenities they could handle, it's easy to pick Royal at the price the OP mentioned. But Mariner (which is Voyager class) doesn't have as many of those things, and so I think that swings things back into the favour of the Magic, especially if you're willing to pay that amount.

This is why my wife and I are interested in the Virgin Voyages. Can't wait to see some of the reviews from their ship which sails this year. Plus side, NO KIDS!

Have you been on Mariner since the refurbishment? They added quite a bit of the fun amenities and activities that you get on the larger ships. Cococay is absolutely awesome as well.

I haven't been on Mariner. I think it's fine for my family as my kids are 9 and 12. Might not be for OP though.

Just an update that we ended up going with neither option! We booked 4 nights at Portofino in Universal instead. (We have been to Disney a ton the past few years, 3x in one year, so we are taking a break until all the new attractions open in 2021 for the anniversary). I’m booking a Disney cruise for next year at this time, so we can plan in advance. Thank you for everyone’s input!
