Hello everyone! I am busy planning our next trip, and I have a couple of different options and I am VERY confused!! Please help me!
There are 4 of us, 2 adults and two boys ages 5 and 7. We were going to stay 7 nights at ASMo, because we are hardly in the room at all, and we will be going in January so the pool is not a big issue. But for about the same price, I can stay at OKW in a studio but only for 5 nights. We really want to stay 7, so this is the question:
Should we stay at ASmo for all 7 nights as planned, or should we stay at OKW for 5 nights and then switch to ASMo for two of the nights (or vice versa)?? Let me know what you think!

We will have a rental car, so we can move our luggage ourselves, and the kitchenette at OKW would be a plus, but we pretty much lose the food court since OKW does not have one, and the kitchenette only provides a microwave...I could go on and on with pros and cons so please help!!

Hi! I think I would stay and AS then switch to OKW. I think the reverse would be more difficult to adjust to. Last year we went from AKL to OKW and were glad we did it that way. We love OKW, it's our favorite resort.

Have a magical time.

I agree with the previous poster. Spend 2 nights at ASMo and then another 5 at OKW. ASMo is just not in the same league as OKW....and having stayed at both if I really had to choose I would definitely do 5 days at OKW over 7 at ASMo.

Also, if you move from OKW to ASMo it will be a big letdown! Better to move up the scale than down as you progress through your vacation. Also consider that the refrigerator and microwave can save you some money on food costs....eat breakfast in the room, take your own drinks and snacks, etc.... I'm not sure what the big advantage of the food court is? If you're mainly in the parks better food can be had there. And there are many convenience foods available in the OKW store, as well as Olivia's restaurant and the little take out place too. Or you can bring leftovers back to your room to reheat from the parks or other resort restaurants.

Another thing we've done is to stay at a really inexpensive place off property our first and last night...enabling us to make the most of the days we have at WDW.

Have fun!

It is great to know that you guys love OKW. I was a bit nervous about it-it just doen't look as Disney-ish if you know what I mean.
As far as the food court thing, I just figured having quick food was a bonus with the kids. We do tend to eat more at the parks and if we could bring back leftovers that would be great. My only issue is that we need to go Sun-Sun and I can only get OKW Sun-Thurs which means we have to stay at ASmo after OKW because we can't arrive the Friday before we stay at OKW due to DH work schedule. I'm sure we will be a little let down (although we liked ASMo last time we stayed there and we have stayed at the POLY, BCV and other deluxes) but I don't think the boys will be. One of those last two days, we will be going to Universal so we really will only be sleeping there.

So you would defintiely go to the trouble of doing this plan then??

Thanks!

While it will defianatly be a let down to go from OKW to the AS....but You will love the OKW sooo much more that think of it as bringing you back to reality before going home...:D :D :D

We've switched resorts before. Going from CBR to BC. It's almost like two vacations in one. Maybe you could plan on your "heavy" park days being the All Star days and plan for some laid back and relaxed time at OKW.

Let me also reassure about about OKW. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. We stayed in a one bedroom this past November and since I used our DVC points and needed to use as few as possible, I felt at first like I was settling for OKW. Boy was I wrong. We loved the laid back feel. The main pool is nothing spectacular but it was fun. I like how the resort is broken down in little "communities". The white picket fences, golf course, waterways and foliage add to the community feeling.

We'll be in a studio in less than 10 days and although I would much prefer a 1 bedroom or larger unit, I know it will be fine for this girls only trip.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time!

I agree that you should stay 2 nights at ASMo. first and then switch over to OKW. I have switched resorts before and it's easy to do. You'll also haave OKW to look forward to. :D
