First, I've never been on a cruise that missed CC, so this is a hypothetical for me. Second--the past two
DCL cruises for us have been in January,a dn didn't swom at CC anyway. We should all have been forewarned that it could happen, at CC or any stop. I have a question for a poster who seemed to be trying to put a good face on it--if it was too chilly and windy to enjoy the pools, and indeed to windy to dock at CC, why was your child already slathered up w/ sunscreen? I think if one of my cruises could not dock at CC, I'd see what time an extra movie might be added at the Buena Vista theater, or some other daytime clothed event, understanding that not being able to dock tells me it isn't great weather for pool activities. My DS-9, would probably get an extra $10 out of me for quartermasters. Who knows, maybe he and I would play cards, or even enjoy one of the disny movies on the stateroom TV. Or eat ourselves into a stupor.
DW would likely nap. It is a vacation, a time to rest and relax. DW and I each bring a couple paperbacks when we cruise--I read an entire 500 page Michael Crichton novel on the 4 night Wonder last month, some on deck, some in a stateroom, some ina comfy place to sit in a lounge. Walking three miles around deck 4, 9 laps, also was a healthy alternative.
I just think on some threads where folks complain of not enough to do that those people might simply not be "cruise people", and I wish them better success with other vacation choices in the future. As for me, even with disappointing weather last month, I got to put to the test the theory that a bad day on DCL beats a good day at the office--and indeed it does.
