Hello, I am in need of some advice. This August my family will be taking a Carnival cruise, and then a Disney trip immediately after. We already have our flights.

I have looked all over, googled, read the stickies, and I'm still not sure what to do. We need transportation from MCO to Port Canaveral, where we will be staying in a hotel overnight. I haven't booked the hotel yet. I'll do Priceline, since we're barely going to be there. Then we'll need a shuttle to the ship. After the cruise, we'll need transportation to WDW. My husband is hoping to take a DCL bus, but I have no idea what the charge would be or how to go about it. Then after Disney, we can take ME back to MCO.

So, would you rent a car to get from MCO to Port Canaveral? The shuttle prices seem a little crazy. Many hotels have a stay, snooze and cruise package that includes transportation for two people, but when you add two more, it gets pricey.

I appreciate any advice!

You will have to either arrange for private transportation to port from MCO or rent a car. Once at the hotel, you can probably take a shuttle or a cab to the ship.
To get to WDW?? The DCL bus can be expensive. You might want to see what a car service will charge, r/t, for your family....MCO to your port hotel, then from the ship to WDW. That may be the most cost effective.
I like to rent a car, but others don't like to pay for the time the car is sitting in the garage at port. But, sometimes, you can get a car more reasonably when reserving it for a longer period of time vs renting, returning it, then re-renting it after the cruise.

DW & I are flying into Orlando, renting a car for one day to drive to Ft. Lauderdale to get on a cruise. We turn in the car @ FLL, cruise, then after the cruise, rent from FLL and drive back to MCO. The one day rental is costing us ~$55 tax & fees included right now. There's no discounts out for June yet that I know of.

I understand there's a rental drop off place somewhere near PC.

Disney shuttle to the port is $79 rt per person. I would stay at Country Inn and Suites - they have a free shuttle to and from the airport then get a rental car the next day. We used Budget and paid $36 including gas. We dropped the car off at the port location for Budget and then budget has a free shuttle to the boat. After the cruise we did the same thing, rented from Budget. When the shuttle dropped us off at the ship he told us where to meet him when the cruise returned and he took us back to the rental office. having the car was great because not far from the rental office at the port is a Publix so we wer able to stop and pick up some things like bottle water and sunscreen that I forgot to pack.

Since you are taking a carnival cruise DCL transport isn't an option. Does carnival have shuttles to the port?

There are car/limo services and rental cars that are done options. I would recommend checking out the message boards on www.cruisecritic.com for the carnival options!

I would rent a car at MCO and stay at a hotel that offers a shuttle to the port. Then, when you return, I would also rent a car. Many of the car rental companies offer free shuttles from the port to their office. We like Budget.
