OK - live in CA - worked at DLR - never been to WDW. DH goes to a conference in Orlando every other year and this year I want to go. Not to the conference but to WDW :thumbsup2

Floridians, this is where you can help....

His conference is at the Orange County Convention Center. How bad is traffic? How far is it from WDW?

I would love to stay onsite at WDW w/ DD6 and also my dad. We would need either 2 rooms or a 2-room suite so everyone is comfortable and has their own space. Cost is obviously an option. DH work will pay for reasonable hotel fees for us but i don't think they will go for a suite at the Poly or anything.

I feel like since we are there for DH work/conference he should not have to drive especially if traffic in that area is horrible in the morning.

Any thoughts? Where to stay? Traffic?

Thanks a million.

I don't know how bad traffic would be but the Orange County Convention Center is only about 5 miles from WDW.

You've got lots of options!!

Convention Centre is going to be at least a 20 minute drive...and traffic can get yucky.

1) Family suite at All-Stars, 1 bedroom, sleeper sofa, 2 tv's and a small fridge, microwave...I'm ballparking in the $179/night range.

2) 2 rooms at a Moderate...pool slides!!

3) Rent points from a DVCer - 1 or 2 bedrooms, at a Deluxe, for a Moderate rate. You may have a problem getting an official receipt from and owner though - it's a private transaction, and your DH's compnay may need something with WDW letterhead??
You can find out more info on the DVC Rent/Trade Board.

4) Condo/Townhome/Villa rental offsite - LOTS to pick from. you can check out our review board at the top of the page for some ideas to get you started:)

5) Downtown Disney Good Neighbour Hotels..offsite, but close to DTD.

Have fun reading, and let us know what you decide!!
HTH!!

:sunny:

I would go with 2 rooms at Pop - it has easier access to the Con center - either by ID (go to the Gaylord Palms on Osecola Parkway turn left now you are on ID south - then past the Nickelon Holiday Inn turn left - then turn right on ID (535).) or I4. it is close to both.

Thanks all....still deciding. Holding 2 rooms at CBR but looking at renting DVC points.

:confused3

Don't know if receipt would be needed. Thanks for thinking of that for me :thumbsup2 Note to self: remember to ask DH this question.
