we are in a HS group, right now its about 14 families, in the past we have been getting together once a month for meetings to plan activites, field trips, etc.
we usually meet at the bookstore, a playground, someones house.
our next gathering to plan is next week at a local playground, they want to assign someone's house for each months gathering.

Honestly I don't like to have that many people in my small house. I really don't want to have a meeting here, My house is not big enough for that many kids and parents first of all, and it just makes me uncomfortable to have that many people here that aren't family. Plus I have 2 big dogs that are not mean, but one can be nippy, ( not in a viscious way, but it does scare some people that don't know her) and honestly I don't want to deal with having hide her in the basement for a day ( which isn't fair to her anyway)... And new people are joining that I don't even know that well.

I know I probably sound strange for this, its quirky I know, but what should I do? Should I just come right out and say, I don't want to schedule one at my house,or should I avoid it altogether and make excuses.....LOL
help!

Just tell them exactly what you said here....you have a small house, you've got two large dogs and you're really unable to have such a large group of people in your home at one time. I think that most people would be pretty understanding of that? Maybe when it's your turn to "host" you can go to the park or the library.

We're considering homeschooling for next year. I think it's awesome that you have a small group to work with like that! :goodvibes:

Good luck with the problem.:)

Thanks! that is a good idea to do the library or playground on my day, also we have a nice lake/beach in my town, so if my month is a warm day, we could go there too.
i will just come right out and say it, the last time i said something like that one of the other people piped up and said "well i live in a small apartment and i don't mind having everyone over"......so it made me feel funny.

My church has gone to having life groups. That's the reason I can't join a life group is because my house is too small and I have no parking. While I am glad the people that made the decision to start the life groups have large homes to host the meetings in, not all of us do and many people don't realize that.

They don't want to have them at the church because its not "personal", so now many of us have been left out.

If you can have it at the library, that would be great or maybe even your church would have an area you could use.

Good Luck.

have it outside? With the condition that you need to cancel for bad weather?
