what would you do for your 40th birthday?

I turn 40 next August and I would love nothing more than to spend it with my family at WDW :)

My 40th was in the middle of a fabulous multi-state national parks trip. The actual day was spent on Pikes Peak in Colorado (took the train up) and we totally splurged on a family-friendly B&B in Manitou Springs. We had a separate teeny two story cottage with amazing views and awesome food. It was more per night than a WDW deluxe at Easter...

Dh's 40th was celebrated the week before at WDW. He didn't want to do anything special because his bday being Sept 1 is right at the start of school.

I'm planning my 45th on a DCL cruise to Alaska in 2011 ;) And I think Austalia sounds fabulous for my 50th.

Since we are saving up for a family Disney trip next spring, we won't be going for my 40th this winter.
Although, I did show DH how I will turn 40 and DS will turn 10 within a week and it will be during free dining, and there were airfare specials... I just cannot pass up so many deals! But no go.... :confused3
I think we are going to go to a B & B for a weekend if we can find someone to stay with the kiddos overnight. Otherwise just out for a good dinner/movie date.

When DH turned 40, our twins were only 6 mo. old and we were still getting like, NO sleep, so unfortunately, he didn't get much. :rolleyes1 He said he didn't care. His B-day is on Christmas day so we had a big dinner and a good nap! Oh, and he watched football all day with the guys !

Wow, Thanks for all the responces. So many ideas only one 40th birthday. Well I know for sure I want adventure. So we will see. WDW just keeps pulling me back though;)

We cruised to Alaska on my 40th birthday (with the kids). It wasn't Disney, but it was adventurous and memorable and AWESOME!

For my 45th, I want to go to Disneyland and San Diego. I'm already planning, but it is a few years away! ;)

Do what you want to do. Go to Disney if thats what you love-I planned a birthday there and had a great time. Go with the kids or without-but it is fun to see through their eyes. I planned a day in my favorite park-AK and supper out that night.

Have fun and have a great birthday!:cheer2:

My 40th was in the middle of a fabulous multi-state national parks trip.

That sounds awesome.

My friend is planning a Wales trip for her 40th.

We're going to Disneyland Resort, staying at the Grand Californian on DVC points for my 40. :) It's a last trip for awhile, so we can focus on paying off our car and DVC asap. Of course, the DVC is still there, so we'll probably have a family reunion in Orlando in 2010 around Yuletime, but by that time we'll be done with the car and the trip will feel extra good.

We weren't even planning on another trip to DLR, but then it hit me that I NEVER let my guys do much for my b'day (I'm not sad about being older, but I have never enjoyed b'day celebrations, not even my 1st), and this would sort of help us all celebrate and have some fun. :goodvibes

The summer after DH and I both turned 40, I booked us for 5 nights at Peter Island Resort - it's in the British Virgin Islands. I had never been away from my kids for that long before, and never flown away from them, so this was huge. I paid a friend (not much, but I felt I needed to) to stay with them.

Peter Island is very quiet, hardly any kids (they don't prohibit them, but there is no supervision for them, and the rooms only have one bed), and relaxing. It was so fun. You fly through Puerto Rico to Tortola, then they have a ferry boat that takes you to Peter Island. I would love to go back someday!

We have been to WDW a few times before we had kids, so there I'd always bring them (while I can!). If it's adult only, I'd pick somewhere that you wouldn't take kids. Like this past weekend, I went with a girlfriend for her 50th birthday to a small town nearby to shop and eat and relax, no kids (or husbands) and it was wonderful. Kids would have been bored.

Have fun planning!

I turned 40 last year and the DW and I agreed to take a trip to WDW for it. We have 2 boys (then 12 & 8), and we kept the trip a secret from the right up until it was time to leave for the airport (6am on election day - and yes, we did submit absentee ballots in advance). Since my birthday was in August, it wasn't until November 4 that I actully did get my 40th b-day present. For me it was seeing the sheer joy on thier faces when they realized where we were going. This year the DW turns 40 and we're going back (December), but the boys know about it this time........

DH and I are going to Europe for our 40th birthdays (which are 5 weeks apart). We will be taking the kids because I wouldn't want to spend that birthday or take a trip like that without be surrounded by the people I love most in this world.
