What would you do for a farewell dinner?

I’m taking my two kids (3 and 8) to Disney World this summer by myself. Our last day is a resort day to rest up and recover before the ride home. I’d like to do a nice farewell dinner. I currently have an Ohana reservation and I might keep it. I love the location, lapu lapu, and the bread pudding. But I’ve done it before and I have a food allergy that they can’t easily accommodate so the food ends up being pretty bland for me. At the same time I can’t think of anything else. We have Hoop Dee Doo and the Spirit of Aloha earlier in the trip so that’s out. We’re doing Chef Mickey’s earlier in the trip as well. What would you do?

I would do the restaurant in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge. It's really fun and the food is wonderful! The servers are really fun with kids and adults, and they get everyone involved in enjoying the atmosphere as well as the food. We've been several times and it feels like more than just going to dinner!

Have you considered Hoop De Doo? The early show might be just right for your kiddos. They do have a set menu, though, so not sure if that might be a problem with your food allergy.

You are already hitting most of the kid-friendly restaurants in the MK area, so that got me thinking about other, non-travel ideas. Depending on weather, dinner at the pool bar/restaurant could be fun for the kids. My experience with kids and grandkids is that they ALL would have liked more time at the pool. Or dinner and a movie in bed/your room. Get take-out, everyone changes into their jammies, then eat dinner while watching a movie. If that's not something you do at home, it could feel pretty special at WDW!

Are your kids boys or girls or both? 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian is fun, and so is Cape May at Beach Club. Both locations are good for strolling around after dinner too.

Just out of curiosity, may I ask what food you have an allergy to?

I like the idea of Storybook Dining for dinner (at Artists Point in the WL with the Evil Queen, Snow White, Grumpy and Dopey) or the Bon Voyage Breakfast for brunch (with Ariel, Eric, Rapunzel and Flynn at Trattoria al Forno).

we do Ohana as our farewell dinner, and a character breakfast after checkout!!! it adds the last little bit of Disney magic before we get on the road!!!

Boma at AKL has the best buffet and they are good at accommodating food allergies.

Thank you! I can’t eat garlic in any form. They do try to accommodate it, but last time we went everything (except the bread pudding) was pretty bland. That bread pudding, lapu lapu, and the views might make it worth it even still. 😂

I’ve scheduled the bon voyage breakfast at noon on our last day in May. They only do breakfast and dinner at Trattori, so scheduled as late as I could.

Have you considered Grand Floridian Cafe? The food and service were outstanding on our last trip. You could stick around for fireworks after if you wanted too.

I'd stay away from buffets with one adult and two kids.

Have you emailed the allergy/food people at Disney? They may have suggestions on some options for you.

I'm leaning towards Whispering Canyon at WL for a fun and memorable dinner.
