What would you do: early morning flight 2 hours away?

That's a good point that it would probably cost as much to park the car long term. We will be in Disney for 2 weeks so the parking will be a lot. I will look into that further.

Make sure you check with the hotel to see how long the free parking covers. The hotel we stayed at charged $5/day for anything over 7 days. Other places may not do this, but be sure to ask.

Also, maybe this is a silly question, but you only have to be 18 to get a hotel room, right? I know this is the case with Disney, but just wasn't sure if it applied everywhere. Also, my parents are AAA members. I live with them and are covered by their insurance, am I eligible for a AAA rate at a hotel? Thanks!

Depends on the hotel. Priceline wants people who bid for hotel rooms to be 21. As for AAA, hotels generally don't ask to see your membership card. But if they do - the membership card needs to be your own. I gave AAA memberships to each of my daughters when they started driving, because they needed their own AAA card in the event of a breakdown or other emergency.

You all would still stay at the hotel by the airport even though it is Christmas day?

Not to be rude, but did you consider all of this when booking your trip? You may just have to cut Christmas a little short this year if you expect to fly out early the next day and it's 2 hours away. Like I tell my own kids, you can't burn a candle from both ends. You have to decide which is more important to you. If it really bothers you to stay at a hotel on Christmas night, then move your flight to a later time or the next day. Good luck!

My sister recently moved to Orlando. This will be her first year away from home for Christmas. This is going to be very hard for her which is why she asked my sister, my cousin, and myself to join her for Christmas. However, I wanted to be home with my parents and extended family for Christmas. So, I did the next best thing, I booked an early flight on the 26th and my sister and I will celebrate Christmas a day late. I just wanted opinions as to whether I should stay in a hotel, I get all the motherly advice I need from my own mom! :thumbsup2

Hello fellow Ohioan! I grew up in Gahanna, a suburb literally a hop, skip, and jump from Port Columbus. Have you looked into the Holiday Inn Express Gahanna/Port Columbus? It is economical and only about 5 minutes from the airport and directly off of the interstate. You will have a straight shot to the airport from there. I have never personally stayed there since I always lived so close but it always looks nice and is located in a good area. I checked trip advisor and it had one review posted that was positive. Hope this helps!
