What would you do? Cancel or go alone?

I have a trip planned next week with a girlfriend. We are meeting in the Orange County airport Sunday night (both arriving from different cities). We plan on doing Disney Monday, Tuesday (Oogie Boogie Bash) and Wednesday. Our flight home is at midnight Wednesday night. Plane tickets, Disney tickets, Oogie Boogie tickets have all been purchased. I got an email from my friend saying her mom was in the ER last night and may need surgery early next week (when we plan on being in Disney). My friend may likely choose to stay home to be with her mom and help out as needed.
Would you cancel your plans? or, stay the course and just go alone? I just don't know how much fun I would have going alone. But, all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. I haven't checked how much it would cost to change my flights. Just not sure what to do...

I have a TON of great memories of solo trips. I think I would still go.

Go Alone! Trust me, you can have a blast by yourself! Plus, maybe some one on disboards will also be there alone and you can meet up for a ride or two. I would totally come down if I wasn't going out of town already! Going by yourself is so liberating!

I feel for your friend, but other then maybe saving a bit on the airfare you are out for the rest. So I think I would go and try to have as much as you can. Not sure where you are staying but if you need to make changes there that might save you a bit of $. Best of luck.

I agree to just go- solo trips are fun too!

Also the OBB ticket can definitely be used by someone else if there is someone who might be able to join you instead and your friend is OK with that. She might as well hang on to the park ticket and maybe you guys can have a do-over at a later date or that can be used by someone else too.

Go alone unless you're going to be in the dog house for doing so.
Your GF may forgive but MIL's have long memories!

Solo, for sure! I took my first solo trip earlier this year and loved it. I ended up taking another 2 trips afterwards and have one more booked in 2 months. It felt weird at first, but there were so many cast members and other guests to talk to that I never felt lonely. The biggest bonus is being able to do so much more since there's only your own agenda to consider.

I hope your friend's mom is able to recover quickly. I think your friend would feel better if you didn't cancel on her account. You could send them both some park treats so she doesn't feel like she totally missed out.

I hope your mom's friend improves soon! I've never done Disney alone, but I was once in Germany with a large group, and quietly scheduled myself a "me" trip in Berlin. It was awesome, and the only thing that felt a little strange at first was dining alone, but I don't know whether the server felt sorry for me or if I managed to hit on an ultra swanky restaurant, but the server kept bringing me free bread and pesto butter 😁 So I'd go and get some special Halloween treats to bring back to your friend, so she can still get a little bit of Disney.

Like another poster said, assuming that you won't be in the dog house with your friend, go anyways. Of course, this would assume that the hotel reservation is in your name instead of your friend's.

I went on a solo trip to DL once. It was really nice.

Definitely go! Solo trips can be great. I’m a WDW passholder and just did Disneyland for the first time and it was solo. I was nervous the first time I went to WDW alone, but have come to appreciate being able to do whatever you want. Personally, I like going to the park from open till close and barely stopping to eat. Pretty much everyone else I know can’t stand that. It’s a nice once in awhile to have a trip focused on what you like best.
