What would you do? Cancel or go alone?

When someone from my family joins our trip, they like going off alone for a half day here and there. Like my sister (married) who met a man (married) at Contemporary and they had fun taking the monorail together eating, drinking and BS'ing together. Just friendly. And she met a lady who's husband was in the same business as hers and they were tight for 2 nights.

There are plenty of individual guests around the parks. The least scariest place to meet a stranger has to be WDW. :D And if you prefer solo, that's fun too! Definitely go.

Another vote to go! Invite another friend to join you for the party, then remember to buy your other friend a nice gift to cheer her up and to thank her for the ticket. If you need any advice on planning a solo trip, start a thread and ask any questions. As you've seen, we've got lots of DISers here with plenty of solo trip experience. :)

Go by yourself. Also if your friend does need to cancel have them call Disney they "may" actually refund her party tickets. Not guaranteed but they may do it.

I would go alone. I'm "chatty" and if you are as well, maybe this could be a great opportunity to make new friends as you go around the parks. I've had some great conversations with people, just while waiting in long queues! The kind that when you both part, you say things liike "it was great meeting you and so nice chatting with you!" It's fun to hear where people are from, if it's their first time at a Disney Park or die-hard fan.... things like that.
Also, I would take the opportunity to do ALL the things that are my faves
You will have way more time to enjoy all the great details in the parks!

If Disney won't refund your friend's ticket and if your friend doesn't want to gift her ticket to someone who can join you (remember, OBB tickets clearly state that they are not for resale), one other option for her is to donate the ticket for a tax deduction. Posters here have reported receiving a tax deduction for donating MHP tickets to CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County, CA) or Make a Wish.

If you haven't had enough encouragement already :) ...GO! I did several solo trips last year (I was gifted an Annual Pass, live in Oregon, and had no one that LOVED Disney as much as I do, to go as much as I wanted to.) I have WONDERFUL memories of my solo trips! I love doing what I want, when I want... meandering around or going full speed. On one trip, just for fun, I challenged myself to complete every ride in both parks *in the order of their opening day*...and I did it in three days. (This is something I never could have done going with my family or with a friend.) One trip, I rode the Incredicoaster 7 times back to back, just because I could! I have gotten more pixie dust in my solo trips, and had such *satisfying* experiences (I use that word, because I want to convey just how GOOD solo trips can be). Plus, as a 'single', you can grab fastpasses easier, get into seated restaurants faster...use the single rider line, etc. etc. I can go on and on. I am a huge advocate of experiencing Disney alone *atleast once*. ... I really hope you get to experience it... it is one of my favorite things ever! Not just one of my favorite things in regards to Disney... One of my favorite things to do in LIFE, ever! : )

Go and have a good time. I'm sure you will meet a lot of great people. Have fun.

I will say too that if you get here and aren’t enjoying your Disneyland time, the weather is perfect right now for beach walks, etc. There are loads of other fun things to do in SoCal.

I've had an unexpected solo day and I loved it more than I thought I would. It was so free feeling to just do what I wanted and not have to worry about if I'm walking too fast for my group, if they need to use the restroom, etc. I did miss DH a bit since we have so many inside jokes about things at DLR, but it was definitely a fun experience!

I would go. I went to WDW solo back in March of 2018 and it was my favorite Disney trip ever. It was relaxed and I could go at my own pace. I got to ride all of the rides and do everything I wanted. I’m sure Disneyland would do the same for you.

Go solo! Solo trips are amazing! You might be able to hook up with some people on these boards occasionally too. You will probably get the opportunity to look at details more and just spend time people watching, if that's what you want to do. Do you like photography? I love it, and it's always easier to do solo, because I can spend the time getting the shots I want.

Well, I'm gonna offer my (possibly unpopular) opinion.

Solo for me is a mixed bag. I loved shopping alone, I didn't mind dining alone. Both because I could choose my locations and move at my own pace without worrying that someone was bored or didn't really want to shop or eat where I wanted to. I also liked being able to decide for myself what rides to ride and when. BUT, I found that I didn't enjoy actually riding by myself. Yes, I could focus all my attention on the details, but it wasn't as fun without someone to share it with.

I'm good for a few hours or a day solo. I've done two (separate) days solo when staying at my local relative's house. Other trips my 'Disney Sister' BFF would join me at DL around noon when she was chaperoning her DD's band trips. And my nDH often goes back to the hotel room (or our RV at WDW) in the afternoon if he gets tired or bored and leaves me to shop and wander around until I'm ready to call it a night. But I wouldn't ever plan a multi-day solo trip.

That being said, if I had a trip like yours planned and stood to lose a good deal of money on it, I'd go and make the best of it.
