What would you do.. and why..

So I know every family is different, but I'm trying to pinpoint dates for our 2015 trip, and I'm torn.. so I was wondering if you amazing experts could help me out!

It's my understanding that the Frozen Fun stuff ends May 13 can anyone confirm or correct me on that? .. that being the case I have 2 daughters that would love to see all of that... but I also believe there are still some rides down until May 16th gearing up for the big 60th starting May 22.. SO.. with that in mind, I'm debating..

Do I somewhere between May 10-17 and hit up the Frozen stuff, maybe lighter crowds prior to the 60th kick off.. with a few refurbs...

OR do I do sometime after Memorial day like first week of June after the 60th is in full swing, and rides are scheduled to be open, but Frozen done..

I get rides can go down anytime, but I'm just going off of what is predictable at this moment.. Thoughts.. and can you give me your rationale for your decision?

How many times do you plan to go to Disneyland this year? If you are only going once, I would go in June and experience the 60th in full swing. Although Frozen Fun will be done, I'm sure you will still be able to meet Anna & Elsa. What's included in Frozen Fun is the Sing-A-Long, Olaf's snow fest, Freeze the Night, and meeting Olaf and Marshmallow, as well as drawing Olaf in the Animation Academy. But it is to my understanding that Olaf's Snow Fest will wrap up end of April so you will miss that if you go early May anyway. Freeze the night is cool but I don't think your daughters will be heart broken if they miss that. It's a DJ and dancers.

But the 60th! Paint the Night Parade, Disneyland Forever Fireworks, New World of Color... I think you and your daughters will love that! Yes, there will be fewer crowds in early May but for myself, I would like to see the 60th stuff.

If you are going a second time before summer 2016 (and frankly probably beyond), it's very likely that all of the things announced so far for the 60th will still be around. Some sites are predicting that Disney will be putting on the "60th" for at least a year, maybe longer. So you could see the Frozen things this trip and should be able to see the big 60th things on the next trip, and maybe the little ones too. (Assuming it won't drive you crazy to hear everyone say how great the new shows/parade are while you wait!)

But like Filpina said, Olaf's Snow Fest is scheduled to be gone by May anyway. You never know if they might decide to extend it, but if I recall correctly, they've expressly said they will not. And reports on Freeze the Night aren't great. I don't know about you/your family, but having Animation Academy limited to Olaf and Marshmallow for "Frozen Fun" makes it less appealing to me. I do think it's possible that the sing-along and/or the Fantasyland show might last into June, though if I had to guess, I'd guess no more than one show would stay past Frozen Fun and not both. (And possibly neither.)

I've been shoehorned into going in March myself, so I'm partly trying to justify that to myself but if it were my family and Frozen were a high priority, then IF I could go in late April and then again before June 2016, that's what I'd do. If I only had one trip, though, I'd absolutely do June 2015 (or later). And even if you could take 2 trips, if the only time you could see Frozen Fun is May 2015 (potentially without Olaf's Snow Fest), I'd still lean towards June 2015 instead anyway...although crowds will probably be higher in June.

(The 60th is much bigger than World of Color's premiere, but I did go to the public premiere of the first World of Color on June 11. I expected that crowds would be awful, but we found the crowds very manageable that whole trip. We used a dining package to get FPs for World of Color, though, and this was 2010 when crowds overall were not as large.)

If you can go more than once in the year, I'd pick May. Early June you'll be fighting with grad nights on top of everything else. But if this is the only trip, go in June. I certainly wouldn't want to miss any of the 60th entertainment.

The original announcements said that Frozen Fun would end on May 15th (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/12/new-frozen-fun-opens-at-disneyland-resort-january-7/), but since then, a mailer that some AP holders (and maybe others) got indicated that Olaf's Snow Fest would end on April 30. It's not clear if that means everything associated with Olaf's Snow Fest (e.g., snow play area, Olaf meet and greet) would end of just portions of it. To be safe, I would assume that everything associated with Olaf's Snow Fest will end on April 30. The May 15th end date may refer to the rest of the Frozen Fun activities (e.g., Frozen Sing-A-Long, Freeze the Night, Wanna Draw a Snowman, etc.), but I honestly expect A&E to continue to meet past May 15th. They may move back to FL in DL or remain in DCA, but I'd be stunned if they dropped the meet and greet entirely. I haven't seen any end date announced for the Frozen play at Fantasy Faire, so that has the potentially of continuing into the summer.

In terms of May 10 to 17, it's worth noting that May 7 to 10 is the Tinkerbell Half Marathon, so crowds are likely to be very high on Sunday (May 10, which is also Mother's Day). There are also grad nights slated for May 13, 15, and 16. The parks will likely still be on pre-summer schedule, which means shorter operating hours on the weekdays (Mon-Thu) and reduced entertainment.

If you go in early June, there are grad nights slated for June 3, 5, 6. The parks should be operating on their summer schedule, which means long hours and full entertainment.

I would go in June. You'll get to see the 60th anniversary stuff and the park hours will be longer/more rides operating. People complain that it's too crowded in the summer, but I completely disagree and find it more than manageable. You'll miss the Frozen stuff, but I think the overall quality of your trip will be better.

My hunch is they are going to extend a bunch of the Frozen offerings due to popularity....and money. Some of that stuff doesn't exactly look temporary, at least for the short time it's been open, especially the Sing-A-Long theater.
