What would you do??

We'll be sleeping Saturday night at Hyatt Orlando Airport; getting rental at 7:30a; heading to BWV to check in and then heading out ASAP for a day at MK with dinner at 6:30p at Chef Mickey's.

When would you get groceries? Before check in at BWV? If I do that what do I do with my groceries?

Or should I wait till after Chef Mickeys at around 8:30p??

What's a good reasonable grocery store near BWV? Publix? Which one? I know there is one behind the Premium Outlet Mall....that one?

We've never stopped for groceries before as this is our first time staying at a DVC resort!

Thanks!

BWV has a refigerator and freezer available at check in for the items that require it. Seperate items before you get to the hotel so the bell hop can put the items in the correct place. We have done this many times at OKW, and Vero and never had a problem.

I would do my shopping on the way from the airport. We have shopped at the publix in the premium outlets mall.
The store was brand new ( last year at Christmas time) big selection and we were in and out quickly.

What ever store you choose DON'T go to Gooding's. While the store is very nice, the prices are sky high.
Enjoy your 1st trip home.

If it were me, I would probably do my shopping after dinner. I know all the DVC resorts have refridgerator in the bellhop area to keep food in, but I would rather handle my own food. There is a Winn-Dixie pretty close to Disney too, about a mile north of the DTD entrance on Apopka-Vineland road. That is where we have shopped recently and it wasn't priced too bad.

Thanks for the replies!

So I've got one vote for before check in and one vote for after dinner!

My only fear about doing it before checkin is a later arrival at MK. The sooner I check in, the sooner I can head to MK!!

Anymore votes?

I would get the grocery stop in AFTER dinner. That way you know you will have somewhere to put the food that needs to be cold. I would also vote for the Wynn-Dixie, it's close and the prices are good. Take the 30 seconds and sign up for their discount club, it will save you some $$$.

Have a great trip.

Ditto! Since you'll probably be quite full after Chef Mickey's, you'll be less tempted to buy more than you need!

Enjoy your stay.

I too would go after dinner, we did go to Goodings, some things were high, but not everything, and because of the closeness (we were at OKW), it wsa worth the extra money, maybe a total of $10.00 extra on our $100.00 shopping order, yes its 10%, but we found it very clean and close.

I have heard that at peak times there isn't room in the refrigerators and freezers that the bellhops have access to.
We got to the Publix down past Gaylord Palms. A 7-8 minute ride from the BW area!

Publix near the outlet mall and Dolly's Dixie Stampede is a much better store than the Winn-Dixie. Gooding's is also a good store, and while expensive, has excellent produce and deli items. We usually head to the market after we get our room (we never stay in the parks from morning 'til night). We usually check in, hit the parks, head back to the resort after lunch and hang by the pool if the room is not ready. Then we head to the market and perhaps head to the parks after dinner.

Thanks for all the ideas and opinions!

If I go after Chef Mickey's, where do you think is the best place to stop between CR and BWV? Still the Publix by the mall?

Thanks!

Well, this brings up something that I haven't even thought of. We will be checking in on Saturday am after driving from Cocoa Beach. We will be turning in our rental car at 5:00 that day at Dolphin and were going to buy groceries on the way in-I didn't even think about not getting into our room. Hmmmm...

By the way, I don't know if I could get up the energy to go grocery shopping after a day at the MK. I don't have an answer for that either. I guess I just hate the thought of grocery shopping on vacation.

I shop at super WalMart or Winn Dixie and whoever said that Goodings was only 10.00 over on their 100.00 bill must have hit one heck of a sale. I spent 10.00 over WalMart on just coke and coffee. That store averages a good 25% over WalMart and a good 20% over WinnDixie. But, I guess someone has to pay for the wall to wall carpeting. Glad it is not me.

We usually use Winn-Dixie but ran into Goodings for a couple midweek items in May. We were floored at the prices! Plus their selection wasn't great. We ended up leaving and went to the Winn-Dixie.

I would wait until after dinner at Chef Mickey's if you're that anxious to get your day started. I know that grocery shopping always takes longer than anticipated - so going before you check in might eat up your day and if you're room isn't ready for check in then you have the storage issue.

We always go to the store (Publix) behind the outlet mall. I think it's a little more reasonable than the one at the Crossroads (Goodings).
